I was once told that a captain could buy a new Cadillac on a months take-home pay. That was 20 years ago. Figure what a Cadillac costs today, ($50,000)in todays dollars, that means that a senior Captain was taking home 50K/month and most likely grossing $60,000 to $75,000 per month ! That's more than $720,000 per year!!
We have lost a lot of ground, and need to always remember this when negotiating our contracts.

LAX CP said he thought the overall package was better than current SWA. Fingers crossed!

Baja.

RRRRRIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGHHHHHHTTTTT....

That'd be great, but nothing in recent history would suggest that management would dream of doing better than SWA.

Sorry Baja,

I have to agree with becket on this one.

IF (and that is a big IF) we were to get a contract anywhere near as good as WN's, then I think that would start the end of the known universe.

I'm not holding my breath.

No, no, no, guys. You got it all wrong:

What Baja meant was the CP had his fingers crossed when he said that. ;)

TA's finally on it's way! But not until the furloughees get sold out first. What are they going to sell us out for you say? What will we get for the company violating section 23 of the CBA which resulted in this illegal furlough?

Non-rev travel (which we can't use cause who has $$$ to travel when you're out of a job) and shifting COBRA reimbursement to the company instead of the ALPA assessment that the pilot group voted in late last year. And since the compny has already demonstrated that they can't follow a legal labor agreement, they'll find a way to weasel out of the COBRA reimbursement as well. They'll just figure that they can settle for something stupid. And if this settlement goes through next week, it'll just prove to the company that the union will take such $hitty deals in the future.

This is a fact, not a rumor. This settlement is on the table and it will be decided on this week. Contact your MEC rep yourself if you don't believe what you read on the internet.

Pretty sure they cannot stop COBRA as that would violate lots of federal laws. Why don't you just wait to see what the TA entails before speculating about dumb-ass rumors.

Here's an idea to save some money... sell your computer and cancel your internet. Bonus: You might enjoy life more too.

Fact: that was funny!

I like this idea.

I´m sure we´re not getting SWA pay, but we also have a pension, the sick leave and buy back is supposed to be very good. Also the new scheduling package is supposed to make reserve life better.

Let´s wait and see the road show and power points before we sell ourselves short.

As for furloughees not being able to travel....The Mexican Peso is 14 to 1 right now. Come down here and chill for close to nothing until recall. You´re family will thank you later!!

Adios - Baja.
