New Hire Classes 10/13/2005
Alaska Airlines is planning to hire approximately 100 pilots between 10/2005-12/2006. Currently five new-hire classes (11-15 pilots in each ) for either the MD80 or 737 are scheduled at a rate of 1 per month through February. Minimums: ATP 1500 TT fixed-wing 750 PIC in ME (turboprop/turbojet) aircraft or single-engine high performance military jet Minimum 50 hours flown within the last 12 months Four year degree given preference Current FAA 1st class medical Vision must be correctable to 20/20 in both eyes. Non user of nicotine products.
Applicants must be able to prove legal right to work in the United States. A background check will be completed for each applicant.
Candidates must possess:
-Excellent judgment and leadership skills
-Demonstrated command ability and maturity
-Ability to communicate effectively and learn rapidly
-Sound analytical ability and high tolerance to stress
-Professional demeanor and appearance

wtf, no use of nicotine products, thats just BS to me. It's a free country after all.

Exactly. That's why they can tell people who want to work there that they can't use nicotine products.
 
I think it's a great policy. But, that's just my opinion as a non-smoker and as someone who strongly dislikes tobacco products.

We are self insured so the company has to pay less.

Those are the rules. If you don't like it...don't apply. If you lie and HR or flight Oops finds out, you will most likely be fired.

Briefly saw the list of AS new hires for this bid, where they came from, and TT. Just from memory, the largest group were military, then something like 2 each from Skywest, Great Lakes, Mesaba, Horizon, and a few other outfits.

Anyone have this list (with names removed, please) and care to share?
