Baaaaa...and another sheeple speaks....

You won't be driving an American car long....look at the fuel economy regs he's trying to shove down Detroit's throat...saving fuel, not a bad idea, but what's he's about to require is not feasible short term. Failing that, watch them slap on a gas tax so high you'll be crying for $4/gallon...

Furthermore, step down off your pillar of self-righteousness and admit the fact that you voted for this cretin is because the magic talking box told you to......we got sold this fool like a box of stinking Tide. You voted him in BECAUSE YOU WERE TOLD TO.

How else do you explain someone with NO QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE getting elected? He's not qualified to run a lemonade stand....

Say what you want...I'm done commenting on this because you aren't ready to face the reality that this loser is the last thing we need. Talk to me in 3 yrs......

Somehow I suspect that the "magic talking box" or more likely, the magic talking "Rush" got to you....oh, lets see....about 8 years ago. So how well did that turn out for you?

As for the gas tax, I guess you big Texans will finally have to start paying what it really costs to the environment to drive your Suburban Assault Vehicles 40 miles one way to work....cheap energy is not a god given right....it has a price....if we expect to keep our American culture, we are going to have to address our wasteful lifestyles and our impact on the planet...otherwise our kids will be hosed....

ok, I'm done...I see a tree in need of a hug...

Man, I was hoping this thread would have talked more about AirTran...I guess the headline should have said "Politics"

Like it was said before, it oil stays low I think we're fine. We're definitely built with low costs in mind. Another year of cuts in capacity 4-5%....maybe make a profit and hope 2010 we start growing again.

Ya know, my new year's resolution was to ignore blatant ignorance with a smile, but this time I just can't do it.

You poor pathetic brainwashed soul....you really don't get it do you? The same people that sold you the Fresh Prince are the same ones telling you the sky is falling and the planet is gonna meltdown because of those big bad "Suburban Assault Vehicles...oohh myy goddd...save the children!!!!"

They have an agenda my friend....they want to reshape the world to fit THEIR narrowminded vision...they want to take away your independence, your freedom to make choices and the means to defend yourself all to make you dependent on them.

You mentioned American culture....that is precisely what they aim to manipulate, control and ultimately destroy.

People like you sit there and lap up the mind-control without a second thought.....and that is why I'm so adamantly opposed to the current White House occupant(I refuse to dignify him with the title of President).

The mere fact that so many people swallowed the koolaid and voted him in means that we are several steps closer to surrendering our free will, and that makes me angry and sad.

You will not listen to what I am saying, or others like me are saying. You will not realize what has happened until it is far too late, and that my friend is what will "hose our kids".

By the way, the last 8 years have worked out VERY well for me....sorry about your luck if you can't say the same.

I'm truly done with this.

Well guess since nobody is talking about the subject at hand I will try. So FL cash position goes up for the quarter, but the thread started is crying that its going down. Does anybody read on this board before they open their mouth.

Where's Lear70 when you need him?
Took a Flightinfo vacation for a while... enjoying my son, working on my new house, trying to figure out how I'm going to keep it with the economy going T.U. and taking all the charter business with it and I'm paid based on how much I fly...

Politically, it's all a crap shoot. I'm enjoying Obama's new labor-friendly policies and hoping they will level the playing field for labor. I think Southwest management saw the future of labor's advantage and signed a new T.A. because of it. Settle now for decent increases rather than 2 years from now with low oil prices, good profit margins, and pilots asking for twice what they are now, plus retro. AirTran management should be as intelligent... would also, in all likelihood, keep ALPA off property, but what do I know...

Politics? eh... I'm just not that smart. I am, however, gambling that we're seeing the bottom of the economy this year, and a slow improvement over the next 2-3 years. Oil prices are going to stabilize back in the $50-70 a brl range, airlines will make decent profits for a while, and labor will be screaming to get their money back and be close to strike at one or two carriers about 2 years from now.

As far as AirTran... not going anywhere. Cash position will do nothing but improve with the lowest non-fuel CASM in the industry and the crappy hedges were short-term. This year and next will likely be good for Citrus, and the pilots will be in an excellent position to demand terms this quarter 2011 or walk... if they're up to it.

Time will tell... Hopefully I'll be back then and, either way, will be right there on the picket lines if necessary.

p.s. Glad you missed me, Red... what's shakin'? :)

You sir are out of line! I'm no socialist and have never called anyone else on this board a socialist. Glad that you to are passionately oppossed to socialism. How do you feel about being forced to participate in government retirement insurance? I am opposed to being forced to participate. How do you feel about being forced to invest in bad mortgage securities? I am opposed to it. How do you feel about being forced to pay the wages of the UAW? I am opposed to it. If someone wants to participate in Social Security that is fine with me but when people are forced to participate that is not freedom. Because I said that I was willing to give the man a chance, How much private property needs to be nationalized for him to have had his chance? I'm a socialist? I'm a combat veteran that loves this country! Thanks for your sevice. Were you compensated? I was in the Military. I recieved pay and benifits. I also chose to join (may be hard for back stabbing John Kerry to comprehend but I did alright in school too). You talk about freedom, but what have you done for freedom? I have not stated rather I'm a Republican or a Democrat and that is not important. I'm an american that believes in a democracy. In this country we have the freedom of choice. We have some freedom of choice. I am not free to opt out of Social Security. I am now forced to share some of my property with the UAW. In some cases Americans are free to kill their offspring. Not sure is this freedom applies to males though?
Poster Mamma and I had a very spirited debate above. I admire his passion and respect his opinion. Through private email, we had the opportunity to have a good discussion.
I personally am willing to take a wait and see approach of this new administration. I give no politican a free pass, but the man has only been in office one week. I will tell you though I'm tired of watching my profession go down hill. I'm tired of watching management destroy collective bargaining agreements and changing the rules. Pensions have been lost, wages have been lost, and benefits have been lost in my industry. In a free society wages benefits and pensions are paid from profits made when costomers voluntarily patronize a business. When people are forced to pay the wages benefits and pensions others think they deserve freedom is being lost. Instead of pilots fighting each other, we need to find common ground and fight for our profession. So please take your unfounded comments and take them somewhere else! Thank you!

Gentlemen, I apologize for the personal attacks on this thread. This thread is supposed to be about AirTran's 4th quarter performance. Hopefully we can get back on point!

I'm not your enemy. I just don't want to have to pay FICA

I'd rather be rich too. Freedom comes with being rich, you get both. Besides what is wrong with red meat? We were made to eat meat.

And, recycling is a waste of time. Gets rid of jobs.

I don't need to be rich to be free. I just need to have big brother let me be.

Other than that I think we may be in agreement. I eat red meat and I don't sort my garbage, but I think that those who like sorting their garbage should be allowed to do so.

You can drill all you want it won't get you anywhere. The easy oil has already been found, what is left is difficult and expensive to get, oil prices need to adjust up to the 80-100 dollar range to make it viable for these investors to increase the capturing of these oil reserves. The moral to this story is we want oil to stay at 50 or less and the only way to do that is to heavily influence americans into being more efficient. How heavily do Americans need to be influenced to do what you want them to? What level of tyrany are you hoping for? A Castro or Stalin type of tyrany or a more friendly European socialist type of tyrany? How do you influence people to be more efficient? Why try to influence when you can use force? Gas tax would be a great start......5 dollars a gallon gas while oil is 40 per barrel for mass transit folks ie airlines. In other words you can have your SUV but it will cost you. In other words "you're free to do as you like but if I don't like what you do I can take your personal property" That is the kind of freedom tyrants offer. Or you can trade in your 16 mpg SUV for a 50 mpg diesel Jetta and boooom 5 dollar a gallon gas is more like 1.70 dollar a gallon gas. Airlines would flurish because we would finally have a stable gas price at a low price.......NOW THATS USING YOUR BRAIN.......but wait all you neoconservative Rush listeners have a closed brain so you won't understand.......

What color is the sky in your world?

Max, gotta agree, we don't have the infrastructure to do what they do in Europe, not to mention their entire COUNTRY is about twice the size of Texas.

Obama is not a stupid person. Adding $0.50 cents or so a gallon gas tax is one thing. Doubling the price of gas is quite another. You definitely won't see it in his first term, and I seriously doubt you'll see more than $1.00 a gallon in additional taxes even towards the end of his 2nd term. Political suicide and he's still a young guy, relatively speaking.

Socialist idea or not, I don't think he's that stupid to ignore the fallout from the American People if he tried a stunt like that. Consumer confidence would plummet, and we'd have a second round of the economy tanking, likely taking us into the next Great Depression.

There's a lot of cause and effect doing something like that... Not as easy as it sounds. SHOULD we find aggressive ways to conserve oil? Absolutely. Should we be VERY careful at the ways we do it? You decide...

Newst rumor that I heard is Republic will be doing some flying for Airtran in the somewhat near future.
