Too many idiotic statements for me to reply to all of them. .

Well, here's one more for you . . . . Ever see the movie "Old School"?

Will Farrell is running naked down the street, streaking. The funny part is, he thinks all the guys are with him, but it's just him, being a fool, running down the street with his hairy ass hanging out.

That is you, my friend. The Company stopped running with you about two years ago, and your fellow pilots stopped, too. It's just you, and your naked hairy ass running down the street.

Merry Christmas.

.

"Yea I am one of the many military leaders running our military. Notice I said leader. I realize the concept of leadership is a very foreign concept to you so I'll save you the explanation."

That statement may impress all the C-152 drivers out there but we both know how much leading is going on in the left seat of your KC-135; about as much as is going on in the left seat of the B717. Save the self righteous crap for the military board. As far as the current situation goes if we had any true leaders some people in key positions would be looking for employment elsewhere. True leaders do not allow their troops to be treated the way they have here at Airtran. A true leader would be out in front of his troops leading the way in time of conflict. As it is our fearless leaders will be at home with their families while the rest of us are forced to press on and defend the fort without them.

I don't know about the Air force but in the Army leadership like that would be the recipient of a little fratricide.

Sorry, too much coffee this morning! Peace out!

"The reason is because the military makes sacrifices for the country so that cowards like yourself can have a nice Christmas home with your family. We don't whine and complain because the contract we signed didn't specifically say that we may have to forfeit our Christmas leave during times of crisis. This is a time of crisis for our airline."

I didn't volunteer to join FL to have my schooling and flight training paid for and oh yeah by the way go USA. This is a job I was hired on to do based on a contractual aggreement. If I get a letter from coach for forgetting to sign in (not really even in the contract) I have every right to expect the same from the company.

By the way, calling me a coward and a whiner over the internet is definitely not a cowardly thing to do. Enjoy that small circle of friends you have of company men.

Thanks for the visual! Great movie by the way.

No, your generosity will not be rewarded . . . your union signed 6 LOA's with the company so far, and got zero, zilch, squat, nada, not even a handful of magic beans. Management got huge, obscene bonuses, and you got your sick policy changed, your re-assignment pay changed, your reserve use policy changed. Wake up, man!

Why does our union continue to agree to LOA's when the company gives nothing in return? One I understand, but 6??

I believe the majority were pre A P. You can call the office any time and ask any questions you want instead of idle speculation here.

Guys who are junior and only got x-mas off due to a glitch, well, your gonna get hosed.. But, you shouldn't of gotten it off in the first place.

SAP 2 is first come first served with no regard to seniority. Why should a junior pilot not have Christmas off if he's one of the first ones to request it in SAP 2? SAP 1 is seniority based, right?

And yes I'm junior and I am working Christmas for normal pay since it was in my line.

Ironically Ty the scene you just described perfectly describes your situation with regards to the our Union. You thought you were leading the charge of "damn the company on Christmas" (with the union supporting you all the way). Now we find out that the Union has done what I have been saying all along (not messing up our reputation and financial balance sheet on Christmas)

You just turned around and found that you (and your silly band of morons) are running down the street with your hairy asses hanging out. The rest of the company is following the union leadership.

As for USARET, in the AF we don't stay in one job for our whole career, we take on more responsibility and leadership roles. Roles like squadron, wing and numbered Air Force leadership roles. I would think you, more than most, would understand about doing the right thing when your services are needed. I would hate to have been under your leadership in a combat situation.

Good Day

Gentlemen,

Can't we disagree without making this personal? It's bad enough we have the "Einstein" types lurking here, now we have to attack ourselves?

Direct you anger where it belongs, at the people who created this mess.

True leaders lead by example and do not hide behind their mistakes or behind the people they are supposed to be leading. Additionally, "Roles" are parts played by actors and do not make a leader. Leadership is a natural trait that can be refined but not taught. You don't have to look any further than our own company "leadership" to understand that. All the charm schools and supposed "roles" you fill will never make you a leader unless it's in your character to do so. I'm sure you can agree with that. Unfortunately our company leaders have dropped the ball on providing effective leadership on this and many other issue's and have left it up to the rank and file employees to implement damage control. This sir, I would say is the true nature of the problem.

I think I agree with USARET on this one...

Goodnight, all this self-righteous military/leadership squawking makes me feel like I'm in some SOS class back at Maxwell.
Please. Stop.

Yea I am one of the many military leaders running our military. Notice I said leader. I realize the concept of leadership is a very foreign concept to you so I'll save you the explanation.

What would you consider an airline crisis? I would certainly consider leaving thousands of our customers (who pay your paycheck) stranded on Christmas eve and Christmas a crisis. Whatever the cause, its a crisis and attitudes like yours make it worse.

Yes, they made a mistake and you are trying to make them pay dearly for that mistake. What a man you are!!! They offered premium pay, positive space and hotel rooms to make up for their "glitch". But that's not enough for you. You probably expect a $10,000 bonus check for your sacrifice - to fly on a day you were supposed to fly on anyway.

I tired of trying to spread the concept of integrity and teamwork to you guys who obviously don't care about anything but yourselves and your next trip.

See ya on the flightdeck.

This is not the military Einstein. Why don't you quit and just concentrate on playing army. Poor planning by the company does not constitute and emergency for me. If people get stuck then the company can deal with it. My family is more important. That's life pal and it ain't fair.

I think we should strap some 1000 pound bombs to the bottom of our 717s and 737s....then i'd feel more like a true leader....

there i was.....inverted....with my tail on fire.....and two bogeys on my six.....
...in my KC-135,with 3 ZEROS on my tail, over Nagasaki. Yes, I'm the reason you don't speak Japanese...

Absolutely. My family is more important than this place.

I'm on airline #4. I know that jobs come and go; this one is no more important than the last. Yes, it provides an income, but I can replace this income in a heartbeat.

Time with my family is irreplaceable and I'm pretty pissed off our MEC gave this away.

My last MEC passed a very important resolution I'd like to see passed here:

The MEC cannot sign ANY T.A. or waive ANY contract section that is deemed to be a pay or QOL issue without member ratification. This would qualify under both.

If I had someone else viable to vote for that wouldn't give away the farm in other areas, I'd be online voting right this second...

I would hate to have been under your leadership in a combat situation.

Sorry, Chief, but as others have already told you, playing the "combat card"
isn't doing anything here except making you look foolish. Most of us have seen from experience that those who routinely play that card are compensating for something. The rest learn to put it in a box. Note that the quietest among us are usually the Marines.

Try pointing to something you have done in the past ten years that doesn't involve the military . . . . tell us about that time you caught a guy not wearing his hat on Concourse C, or the time you had to clean the sparkplug on your lawnmower yourself . . . . We're all waiting to be dazzled with more examples of your brilliance and leadership, but the tired lines you're parroting here are not leadership, but followership . . . the same lines that make me glad I'm not a 717 FO anymore, and that your viewpoint is in the minority of the pilot group, from what I'm seeing and hearing.

Ouch.

Real entertainment for a former Navy guy

... watching an AF and Army guy argue about leadership on an internet message board... :D

I ripped this off another website.

LOA latest info.

Nothing has been signed as of yet (Monday evening). The company presented a proposed LOA with a few "zingers" and it was rejected by Allen and the BOD.

JA's will probably be coming to the 737 fleet soon.

I was assured the personal hardship provision will remain in effect. However, you will have to claim the hardship by a yet to be determined deadline (Thur-Fri?) so the company can find another pilot to cover the trip.
Also, a few pilots have already been JA'd this month, you may not be JA'd again.

Don't take this as official info, it's certainly subject to change.

I see that your only experience prior to AirTran was in the military.

For the record I had no intention of bringing up my military experience until Don decided to bring it up. By his ignorant statement he infers someone who is in the military as well as the airlines can't have a viable opinion about something that affects all of us. Once he brought this up I had no choice but to counter such foolishness.

I've found that when people digress from the facts of the situation (ala Don Verita) and start making personal attacks, it only stands to reason that the person has nothing more constructive to say.

Everyone here has their opinion. That's what's great about this board. This issue has been decided and bickering between Airtran brothers will get us nowhere. Peace Out Gents.

Merry Christmas

AFCitrus...I made an observation of what YOU put in your avatar. The point being that you coming from a military-only background quite possibly may shed some light on your attitude of coddling management.

Frankly, you have nothing on the line. You are probably in the Guard drawing a paycheck and/or you have military retirement you are receiving now or will be receiving in the future.

Most of the rest of us don't have your safety net. So when we say, "Hold the line!" it means just that. When you say, "Hold the line" it means, "don't rock the boat so I can milk this gig for a few more years because I've got mine so I'm not worried about the rest of you..."

You have obviously served our country and I thank you for that. If you came from one of the military academies then you better be thanking us because we payed for your priviledged education. In matters of labor relations, you have no experience sir. You are, in fact, a rookie. So until you've got a few years under your belt, don't undermine the efforts of those fighting on your behalf for a better quality of life.

AF, Ty and Don V are correct. While you are hanging out at the O club in your flight suit trying to impress some skank. People are dying every day in Ramadi, and Fallujah. It has been my experience that the ones who talk the most, did the least.

Well said. I've often wondered how guys out of the military equate complying with management's scheme of the day to military ops/conduct. I know ATL's a tough town, but is there anyone shooting at you guys down there in the dirty south?
