Here is a letter from a former ALPA Exec. Vice President and DHL pilot to the Air Tran pilots...
This is your company, your pilot group and your decision, however I feel a certain sense of obligation to warn you that ALPA will prove to be the worst choice that you will ever make...The pilots at Air Tran will not be served well by ALPA.

Hey, wait a minute!

This guy doesn't fit the "bitter regional lifer RJDC supporter-who-can't-get-a-job-at-the-majors" paradigm the Delta pilots have worked so feverishly on here to promote.

A big airplane driver and 20 year member is saying that the arrogance of the legacy MECs is destroying the union.

- Will Poindexter and "Scope out RJs" get a smarmy response typed before their heads explode?

- Are FDJ2 ears turning red?

- Will Occam's Razor start typing in bold, italics and underline?

- Will PCL_128 and Rez O. Lewshun stop making out long enough to realized they've been shilling for the scam?

Management is not fooled by this paper tiger union the legacy MECs have made.

Rez,

You are correct new hires make poverty wages with no insurance for the first six months. They then endure a "B" scale, years two through six.

Our goal is to get the senior pilot to fight for the new hire pay and insurance issue and conversely to get the junior pilot to fight for the senior pilots retirement. Together, unified we will prevail or individually we will fail.

Thanks for the words of advice.

It appears you don't need my opinion. :)

That is the right tact... we are unified when a pilot stands up and says "this is wrong because it doesn't protect THAT pilot over there...."

Good luck... we are all counting on all of us....

I think you probably know who it was that wrote that letter. If you do, you probably also know his background: multiple management positions immediately after leaving his position as Master Chairman, eventually getting fired from those jobs, then getting fired from his line-pilot job, then trying to run for ALPA President until it was quickly discovered that he was lying about his military service to a degree that would make even George Costanza blush.

As usual, the anti-ALPA contingent is nothing more than a bunch of misfits.

THAT GUY? ORLY? I remember talking with him at the 2002 BOD and quickly realizing that "the lights were on but nobody was home, he wasn't playing with a full deck, he lost his marbles."

Who can name that song?

That's great N, you've got a new friend, I understand the RJDC might be looking for a turn coat, management wannabe, who lied about his military service and lost his management job as the new face of the RJDC. Maybe this is your man, since Dan " thanks for your checks guys now watch me cave and throw in the towel" Ford might have a harder time convincing the average pilot to fund his next get rich quick venture.

I don't have a problem saying that to anyone's face.

Look at the history. Small carriers have always played second fiddle at ALPA.
Complete and total bull********************.

How's that contract at Comair working out? Eagle?
Ya know, prior to 9/11 Comair and Eagle had some of the best contracts in the 50-seat market. Comair kept theirs for a long time and even allowed XJT to improve on it after 9/11 and after many carriers either 1113'd theirs or negotiated concessionary deals. Hell, XJT's work rules were better than most majors after the fact. Not bad for playing "second fiddle."

FDX put nice improvements on the books as well while.

Even the Legacies didn't get their money's worth with ALPA standing idly by as the 1113 contracts got shoved up everyone's butts?

How would that have been any different with the NPA (IACP, IBT, SWAPA, etc.) Is 1113 an ALPA-specific piece of legislature?

Talking about our leaders signing LOAs?

If you get a MEC, they can do the samething. Ask the ASA guys right now. The BOD at ASA just agreed to take 2% of all pilots pay to pay the furlough guys insurance. Not one pilot vote!!!

Important question. Who is going to run for office for us? Who is going to be MEC?

Actually, the pilots did vote to approve that at ASA. Good for them. I wish we had done the same thing for our furloughed pilots.
