Airtran marketing department sucks donkey balls

Do you guys ever get tired of b1tching and complaining about EVERYTHING.... My god, no wonder people hate pilots... Were a bunch of winny friggen babies.... Get over it, we have no idea what marketing costs and AAI could be doing a great job of marketing with an extremely small budget. Hell, it could cost 5 times as much to put a sticker on the side of Jimmy Johnsons car.. Would that make sense??? I got an idea... Why don't pilots fly the airplanes, and let crew scheduling and everyone else do their jobs... If you don't like the way our marketing dept works... Apply for the friggen job and STFU... Otherwise, who cares... Were just friggen pilots and its not up to use to care.... Allright... Off my soap box, back to my porn....

There are some departments where pilots could make a huge contribution, namely Scheduling and Dispatch. Unfortunately, due to the "corporate culture" that exists here, input from pilots is not welcome, so we p!ss away millions of dollars in both of these areas.

True Story:

4 Years ago, I tried to introduce them to the concept of transcon flight planning to take advantage of the Jet Stream . . . basically, paying someone $50. a day for a few hours' planning would have saved thousands of dollars per day. . . . . or millions over the past 4 years . . . but the suggestion came from a pilot, so it was deliberately ignored.

The same could be said for IROP Dispatching . . . . for God's sake- when ATL goes IROPS, ditch the "fuel conservation planning" mode and start tankering fuel! Hmmm . . . what a concept?

The list goes on. . . . .

But, at ATA we sucked even better. Because, not only did no one know who we were, but the FEW that DID... thought we were AirTran.(!)

We won at being the Most Suckiest.

Whatever lame azz promotion the Pig Farmers from IND came up with only served to promote Airtran in the long run.

Actually, ATA sponsored Danica several years ago. The general public outside of Hooterville probably still thinks that was Airtran.

Really my point is that you don't have to spend money to get advertising.

SWA and Jetblue CEOs wrote books. Even if someone doesn't buy the book it is free advertising sitting there on the self.

You ever see a Airtran Exe on TV or on talk radio talking about the industry. My wife heard the CEO of SWA the other day on the morning radio talking about the industry. Neilman is always in the news too.

Maybe our guys are just shy.

Pilots are vested in this company and want to see it succeed. Do you think I want to see the company waste money or operate losing money? There are many pilots here who run other business' SUCCESSFULLY and are well educated and have seen the world. As a pilot, do you think I want to push back late, do you think I want to arrive late. As a guy who realizes who pays my salary, I want my customer to come back. I want them to have a good product that they value and want to come back to. So most professionals that I have flown with feel the same way. They get pissed when they see gate agents being rude to passengers, they get pissed when they see scheduling misusing their resources and costing this company money. They get pissed when customer service is subpar and their customers complain to them. If the unions can negotiate with the hotels we stay at and stay within the budget the company gives us, why not let them. We are the ones that have to stay in these hotels. Mister, I'm vested in this company and want to see it succeed. I would value the intelligent inputs from our crewmembers and not turn my backs on them! So you STFU, we have a right to want to see our company prosper and all good ideas should be taken seriously! Why, because I care!
