You've got to remember, there are a lot of things included in the credit over block. Our pay starts when the main cabin door closes, but block time for FAR tracking purposes doesn't start until the airplane moves. That alone is about 2%. Then you have a few days of recurrent, a pair of checkrides, 3 weeks of vacation, a sick call or two, and it starts to add up. That is all before the inevitable, 'let's make a deal'. As a commuter, I don't pick up a lot of stuff on days off, but you can do a lot of creative things if you commute in early for a late show, and they are short. It's actually kind of sad that scheduling is usually in crisis mode, but is pays well.
