Does anyone know of a way to check loads on AirTran? Online that is.

Thanks,
enigma

Easy!

Go to www.airtran.com and select the date and to/from locations you're travelling between. Then select the total number of travelers as "9". If the computer gives you prices for coach/biz class seats, then there are "lots" of seats available and the flight is not likely oversold.

If no biz class or coach seats are listed for purchase, however, then drop the number of travellers to "1" or so and see what are available. Remember, though, that AirTran oversells their aircraft, so even if the computer displays two seats available the jet may still be booked solid. In that case, simply call 800-AirTran and ask the res agent. They have always been friendly to me.

Best of all, AirTran treats jumpseaters MOST EXCELLENTLY! They are welcome on my jet any day, any time, any where.

Good idea, Flip. Incidentally, I had one of my best jumpseating experiences ever on Airtran about 2 weeks ago. I've never had a bad JS experience, but theirs was over the top.

Thanks Eagleflip, way to think outside the box. I wish I'd though of it.

I was under the impression that Airtran required you to pay for a jumpseat. Is this still true? Excuse me for asking-hopefully CASS will catch on here too. We'd love to have you folks ride with us.

However, I think I already know the answer to my question. Ie. When I ride with Delta, it doesn't matter how many are riding (irregardless of the jumpseat #). That doesn't apply if you are friendly and patient. I am sure that Airtran is the same. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Every airline can overbook seats, it's not just an Airtran thing.

on a quasi-related note, if anybody needs loads for the NWA system checked, let me know, i'll be at 9E for two more months until I go to OTS. Just PM me what you want as I check this site daily.

Airtran can require you to pay $20 for the jumpseat if you are not the first jumpseater. First one rides for free, any after that might be asked to pay the $20. I've jumpseated a few dozen times on Airtran and I've only been asked to pay once even though there was almost always another jumpseater there first. Most of the gate agents don't give you a hassle and just let everyone ride free. By far the best airline to jumpseat on. They'll always give you business class if it's available and the crews are great.

The fee is $25 if another offline guy beats you to the seat. AirTran allows only one jumpseater, so technically you're buying a $25 non-rev pass, not a jumpseat. Not a perfect world, but close.

As mentioned, you have a good chance of not being asked to pay even if you aren't first.

Ty Webb posted that before as well. I tried it and it does work well. Eagle, I'm glad you've had good experiences with our pilots.

I had a Delta fella ride with us to Houston yesterday. Great guy. He was happy to commute home to start his Alaska fishing trip with his two boys a bit early.

Really... Isnt that what its all about... getting home as quickly as possible to do what WE want. My best wishes to the Delta Capt who was going up fishin !!

Yesterday we took a Delta pilot and an American pilot as jumpseaters on the same flight. The Delta pilot was first and was given the jumpseat without question. The American pilot was also given the jumpseat without having to pay $25 for a Walk Up Pass.

The gate agents know it is a stupid policy that causes them to have to do additional typing and swiping. Many of them disregard it outright unless a supervisor is watching them. They are just as anxious as the pilots to have this management-imposed nonsense go away in our next upcoming contract.

Until then, think of AirTran as most other major airlines in that 1 physical jumpseat means 1 jumpseater (some 737-700's have 2 so it would be 2 jumpseats available!). They give you the option to purchase a $25 Walk Up Pass right there at the gate without having to go to your airline's ticket counter or your airline's Pass Bureau for pre-purchase. If you don't want to do that, simply wait for the next flight and be first in line for that one.

LAS MCO Loads

Hey just wondering if anyone knows the average loads between these city pairs, I sure could use some help in this weekly commute. By the way, I have tried to email Ty webb, but see he not listed anymore as a member here. If any of you guys knows how to contact him, I would appreciate it if you would tell him RVSM410 needs to speak off line to him......

thanks for the help and future rides to work.

Ty Webb is gone?

Come to think of it so is Snake.

Coincidence....? I wonder?
