75M,

I like the new AVTAR...Very nice...You can actually see this one alot better than your last one. Never forget your roots...and never forget who's writing your paycheck now.

Sounds like "words of wisdom" to me. Hopefully, we can all call this place home for quite a while. When I got here three years ago, the few 717's stuck out amongst the fleet of ancient DC9's like the 737's now stick out amongst the 717's, and I have gone from the bottom of 620 to almost the middle of 1000. Hopefully, our growth will continue, and we are happy to have so many high-quality guys joining us.

Welcome Aboard, guys.

Thx guys, for all the info. The hotel issue is going to be the most difficult; expensive but I can't afford another car to get me from a crash pad to training.
One last question, will I be able to get home and see my kids while I'm in training or should I expect to just not see them for roughly 6 weeks?

You should get home every weekend if you want to. I think you get your ID on day 1 or 2 and you can jumpseat that weekend. Plus you might have a block of days here and there during training to go home depending on the sim schedule, etc...

Welcome aboard!!!

Although it may not be your first choice, you can try splitting the cost of a hotel with one of your classmates. Also some hotels offer weekly rates...but i haven't used any hotels near the new sim center in awhile. You should have the opportunity to go home, I think there is a requirement to do some observation rides still, you can use that as an excuse! AirTran has been a great experience for me so far, and the company has been very flexible with my training/deployment in the guard. I too commute out of Dallas, and though its made for some long days, I've been happy with the choice. Good luck in your training.

During Indoc everyone goes home- usually finish Fri late afternoon, return Sunday night to start Monday morning. That's for the first few weeks. After that, you'll get breaks too; they may just not be on weekends- depends on your sim schedule. I had a break of five days after Sim session #3, which was a bit longer than I would have liked. . . . after your checkride and LOFT, you may have quite a bit of time off before IOE, depending on scheduling . . . .some of us had a month off, waiting for IOE (with pay, of course).

There are plenty of crashpads, too, if money is an issue. They range from $150./month (need a car) to $200. for a nicer, less crowded place near a hotel shuttle or the MARTA train.

Good luck. Do group study. Stay with the herd. Keep flying the thing until the motion stops and the lights come on. Have Fun.

Just make sure you are back on SUNDAY and not late MONDAY...thats BAAAADDDDDDDDDD.Unless the guy who doesn't get in is Senior to you.

Oh...about 11 hrs door to door, 2 legs, online then offline.

Are you training on the 737?

Hopefully, we'll add a new destination that'll ease your commuting SIGNIFICANTLY...good luck in training, and thanks for serving in the AFRes, and Happy New Year

Thanks!!

No, I'm on the 717. I'm junior in my class and didn't get to pick. Not that I'm complaining...both aircraft have their advantages and both pay the same...would've been nice to have some West coast overnights though. Company seems GREAT to me.

And believe me, I'm hoping for the same new destination!!

AirTran actual hiring mins?

FlyingCricket - What determines who is "junior"? Do you mind posting (or PM me) your stats (TT, PIC, etc ... for those with minds in the gutter) when you got interviewed? I've been sending my resume to AirTran for the past few months with no response. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong?!? While you at it, could you post or PM what your class flight stats are for those hoping to join the ranks?

Mine are: 2400 TT, 1000 PIC + lots of instrument & night time.

Thanks in advance,
Mike
