Fall '09 hiring isn't looking too good at this point.

I don't think the two airplanes every left the Boeing facility in Seattle. Arik Air (Nigeria) couldn't come up with the financing so we are going to take the airplanes. At 10-11 pilots per airplane, we probably could use another 20-25 pilots (and 10-15 upgrades) for the summer schedule in 2010 with 138 aircraft on property unless the company wants to try to stretch through the summer without hiring.

Airtran will be hiring. They are taking over the flying for apple vacations. US3000 airlines pilots are being furloughed. Airline has 50 pilots left and Airtran is moving in to take the flying away from us3000 airlines.

Savage...there is a Hustler in the LoneStar Air Museum in TX. Awesome plane.

Yes, that one is a TB-58A trainer displayed at Galveston (known as "Wild Child"), one of only 11 TB's built.

It was a far reaching design for its day but demanding to fly, as 24 of the 97 aircraft were lost in accidents. Some of the losses were due to high altitude/high speed upsets, flight control problems, or take-off/landing accidents (crosswinds were difficult due to the delta wing configuration).

Word on the street is Amerijet guys are getting guaranteed first interviews.
Nobody bothers walking on your street A$$Dude, so take your banter somewhere else. Maybe you could start your own PFT forum. You, InstructorDude (if that's not your alter ego) and TankerClown could stay busy all night posting messages to each other.

If anyone gets preferential interviewing it should be the Midwest guys.

There are quite a few on furlough and on reserve. Line values are down to around 70 so there is room to handle two new planes with pilots on property and any further recalls. The SWA rumor as been around SWA and AAI for years. Big D is the biggest there is and the price for AAI to take on the biggest airline in their backyard isnt the smartest things for SWA right now. They are concentrating on UAL in Denver. Why take on the strong when you can devour the weak

Rumor at SWA is that SWA is going to buy AAI at some point to put the squeeze on "Big D" in Atlanta. Run 'em right out of town.

Never happen. We won't accept the SLI screw-job that SWAPA would demand.

I hope you guys will give the furloughed Midwest pilots a good look. No doubt their 717 experience could be useful.
Midwest pilots may have 717 experience, but you have to question their judgement. Aren't the Midwest pilots the ones that thought Tim Hoeksma had the Midwest pilot's best interests in mind? That Tim Hoeksma had a great business mind and was going to turn Midwest around?

While our management might not be the most labor friendly management in the business, Joe Leonard did turn Airtran into a much larger and more profitable airline from 1999 to 2007 (larger and more profitable usually leads to better careers). Airtran had over 50 fuel efficient B737s on order at bargain prices while Midwest had nothing on order and 12 old gas guzzling MD-80s that couldn't compete with our 737s.

If the Midwest pilots were too good for Airtran in 2007, why would they want to work here now? They would have got a much more fair seniority integration two years ago then they will ever get now from any airline.

Good point, but the same can be said for the many TWA, ATA, USAIR, Midway, UAL, FLYi, refugees from sinking or sunk airlines that have made great contributions to our company.

Hey 400AHOLE/chuck yogurt/lawman/einstein/texas crotch rot/boris yelling/lame lizard/sky fly:
What are the Midwest guys guaranteed?
(400ahole is a midwest captain)

Recalls going out to LOA guys . . . Maybe hiring a few dozen to cover the two aircraft headed down to MIA for P&I. Rumor is 45 pilots towards the end of the year, but that seems like a lot for the fleet size and time of year.

Hourly rates may be too low

Hopefully, AAI co-pilot rates go up soon; making it viable for consideration. Otherwise I see it in the "why bother" category. Time will tell I suppose.

What if they proceed with the transaction first, and then begin the SLI? That's how most mergers occur. The Delta method of SLI settlement first and then persuing the buyout was very unusual, possibly never even seen before in this industry.

They can certainly do that, but the contract then requires Allegheny-Mohawk integration, which means arbitration. So far, SWA has been unwilling to get involved in any transaction that would require arbitration, because they don't want the labor nightmare that could result.

Meet Tom Winsor and his "little friend"

Heard this rumor the other day. Heard Fall 09' or Jan. 10'. Anyone else here that?
There would need to be a vacancy posted for that, allowing current people on property to move across aircraft if they wanted. Haven't heard anything about a vacancy notice...

Also have a few friends who bypassed, they haven't received any letters about returning, either. In fact, several who WANT to come back and CAN'T because there aren't any vacancies.

Would take that with a large grain of salt until the vacancy notice is published. They might well try to staff those two aircraft with existing crews and not hire until just before the summer block hour increase. Time will tell...
