A CrewTrac message came out today saying that this RJ subservice stuff allows the 717/737 to be redeployed on longer haul routes AND that programmed block hours for mainline are planned to increase in 2010.

According to our CFO at the analyst conference speech yesterday, Airtran is planning 3-4% ASM growth in 2010 and 2-3% growth in 2011 (2 deliveries this fall and 7 deliveries in 2011). Not clear if those growth numbers include the Skywest flying. Using 50 seats/36 flights per day (3 roundtrips/day from 6 cities)/400 mile avg stage length, it appears the Skywest flying will represent approximately 1% of Airtran's total ASMs starting next year as of right now. The Skywest growth represents little financial risk to Airtran since it is revenue sharing and not guaranteed payments. Everytime I had looked at FTWeb or flown the flights between MKE and STL, PIT, or IND the bookings were all below 60 (except for the PIT-MKE flight after the Steelers-Vikings game in PIT). The CRJ will probably be a cheaper platform for these markets until bookings improve.

It is good to see all furlough byepassers getting another invitation to come back and possible emptying of the hiring pool. It will also be good to see 30 or so FOs get upgraded over the next 6 months as we will need them for the busy summer season next year. I don't see this as another Midwest mainline job replacement scenario, but as a way to quickly expand in MKE with little risk. Republic is expanding ASMs in MKE very quickly with Frontier Airbus and Republic E-190's, and Airtran needs to react very quickly to lock up their portion of the MKE marketplace.

Careful Maxblast the black helicopter crowd will rip you apart for speaking with intelligence and forethought.

It doesn't matter what any Company personnel say or do. They are not to be trusted. They have treated the ATN pilot group with the utmost disrespect in all facets of this airline's operation. Never once have they stopped to take a moment to ask: "What can we do to make things better for the employees?" There is no give. Just take, take, take.

No wonder this pilot group is spring-loaded to strike. It goes deep to the core of a basic human emotion --> the right to be treated fairly and with respect.

Well, us over here at USA 3000 are smiling just a little. Afterall, we are on the street because Air Tran underbid us for our own flying. Funny how we didn't hear anybody raising a ruckus about that on here. What goes around comes around. We are all the companies bitches!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm sure you shed a tear when TransMeridian went under and you picked up their charter flying............
