As far as SWA "weeding out ALL of the bitter self righteous God's gift to aviation tools", you have no clue at all about me or who I am.

I was simply proving a point to a buddy. That the Air Tran pilots on here are WAY too sensitive, too defensive and most of all, too easy to mess with. You guys need to lighten up. I just throw out a little bait and man, the usuals take it hook, line and sinker. Then the few Air Tran pilots that aren't spring loaded take it for what is is, smile and move on. I have a feeling most of the pilots there are the latter. But the same handful of Air Tran pilots that give the company the reputation it has on this board, well...I guess you are what you are for whatever the reason.

What is it about that place that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck, causes you do dig in your heels, and fire back with your defensive retorts? This is just an anonymous message board where, you would think, everyone knows that the majority of the posters are just having a little fun.

Yes, I did leave several years ago when things were probably a lot different than they are now. They sure couldn't be any worse. But from what I can tell, they still seem to favor regional Captains..."not that there's anything wrong with that". It's just that my take on that is that coming from a regional, especially one operating 19 seat turboprops, most pilots WOULD think they had died and gone to airline heaven. And therefore would be more easily manipulated. That is just simple human nature. If I were an airline manager, I would do the same thing.

So lighten up a bit. It's just an anonymous message board...

Capt. Shy, in realestate it's location, location, location. IMHO, finding a good 121 gig is a no-brainer---turbine COMMAND. A shrouded vs unshrouded prop makes no difference. Enjoy the stimulator. BZ!

Thanks Cart,

I haven't yet broken a sweat in the sim, and we're running way ahead of schedule. I did almost make in my pants when we did unusual attitudes and I opened my eyes to see all brown as we blew past 70 degrees on the ADI in an inverted dive. I pulled all the way through and ended up 700' AGL with the radar altimiter, GPWS, overspeed, and even a shake or two of the stickshaker in the (I'm assuming) high-g maneuver to recover. That was fun, but scary. When I looked out as the horizon came into view, we were pointed straight, but were going down very fast still. *whew*

I just can't wait to have this stuff over with. Tomorrow we start with the V1 cuts and other emergencies. Keeping my nose in the books, and getting a little fatigued from the 30-straight days of training here so far. :( Oh well, the sooner I finish, the better.

Thanks again for everyone's opinion on the topic. I took it, now wish me luck! :)

Shy

Yank, Yank, Yank ....Your flight time preceeds your intelligence! Where do you fly now? With your time, I hope that it's somewhere that you can retire at. Most of us would like to encourage those who are still coming up in the industry; then there are guys like yourself!
All things considered, there are few companies, right now, that a pilot can project a future with. Sounds like your with SWA and good for ya'! If that's where you are then I think that your future is pretty secure for the time being; come to think of it, that's what some guys at TWA, Pan Am, Western, Brannif, US Air, etc... thought. Enjoy the ride my friend, because you never know how long it's going to last! Some of the people that you deride may be on the decision board at your next prospective employer!!!

Hey, sounds like when I made a comment about some SWA guys cutting off other pilots on the ramp . . . . probably 20 different responses, and I didn't even have to resort to insults to draw them out. Imagine the results I would get if I pulled your crap.

I don't know too many SWA Captains who would spend time making posts on a message board "to show a buddy that some other airline's pilots are too sensitive", which means you're either fecally impacted (F.O.S.) or must be the biggest loser on the SWA seniority list. Congratulations, what an honor.

Ty, Sluggo, et. al.

I'm just passing the time of day...having a little fun. If you can't figure out that this board is nothing more than simple entertainment, then you have bigger problems than any of us...especially me.

I'm content and you can make all the fun of me, my company, my mother, whatever...And I'm not gonna get my panties in a wad.

Lighten up, for the last time.

Yeah, you say that then get all shook up, defensive, your shorts in a bunch, etc.

As far as anyone taking me seriously, I sure hope not. If they do, then they have a serious problem.

After all, my "name" should give away the fact that nothing I post is to be taken seriously. Of course, actions speak louder than words, Ty old buddy. So you can say "no one takes me seriously", but until you stop attacking, getting defensive and all in all just being a jerk, then the rest of us know better.

YAWN....go back to sleep. Sounds as if you need it.

Yank:

Don't take these clowns for anything other than the trash that they are. Ty is a spinless jellyfish and the others, well, look who they work for and you can understand why they are so sensitive.

Sorry, snake, no one wants to play with you.

Guess you'll just have to keep on playing with yourself. . . . At least you'll be doing what you do best.

Imagine that, A VALUE JET guy putting someone else down. The arrogance is "Totally Awsome Dude". Shouldn't you be out repairing the tin on your mobil home? I mean after all, it is springtime and those level 5's can be awsome this time of year. Just ask your hero who flew through one not to long ago. I believed he landed at BNA. Wow. I am impressed as is my fellow aviators.

So what was this thread originally about anyway?

This is a more general question, but how far out from availability is it good to starting putting out resumes/applications? If I'm not available for 10 months, should I wait a little while.
