just as a quick heads up ive been to stowe vt (KMVL) twice this winter so far and multiple times during the year. The GCO doesnt work and the runway has been fair braking action both times with light snow and the ramp fair to poor the plow guy must have been at the bar instead of at the airport. oh and watch out for the snowmobilers on the east side of the field

I Second rental cars are expensive at RUT but nice service. I think the FBO closes eventually so don't stay too late. And don't get killed shooting the LOC approach there

Lake Placid, NY is a good place to go especially if you have more than just one day. The airport is well maintained, and staffed daily with fuel and is has GPS approaches. From the village you can catch a shuttle out to Whiteface Mountain, for great skiing. The village itself is great with lot's of restaurants, bars, and places to stay. Also, lot's of olympic stuff to see and do.

If you have a little more time, Wisp ski resort in Oakland, Md is a decent option with the resort within 2 mi of the airport. Identifier is 2G4, but also be aware of mountainous terrain.
