Do those jets have VNAV?
Yes the 170 has VNAV. At Republic we are not authorized to use it yet. I believe it's the same for Shuttle. We are in the process of getting it approved. In lue of VNAV we have a flight path angle indicator that we use. We can select the angle of decent we want which acts like homemade glide slope.
 
Shuttle pilots are authorized to use it, after they go through recurrent - few use it for approaches, mainly after t/o and for STARs.
