AirNet: Do they still hire into the piston SIC program?

FLX has runs out of KC, although I'm not sure whether they're contracted out right now. The usual boilerplate about how you're likely to have to go somewhere else for a brief period before you can hold the base you want applies. I do know that the vast majority of our runs are day runs. PM with questions, if you like.

Central Air Southwest I think may also have some runs out of KC, although I wouldn't swear to it.
 
So, we were talking about Airnet guys/gals moving on after coming here...well i have a new one for ya.

How about one of our guys going over to Frontier recently.

What were the times and how long did it take the person to get on with them? Letters of recommendation etc... the typical questions..... Right now what are upgrade times again from SIC at lets say 700TT to Jet PIC? Roughly if you could! and Congradulations to whomever got on with Frontier that's great!
 
I have reason to believe that the guy that got on with Frontier at AirNet is no one other than my old Captain Starchkr himself. He is a 5 year Lear Captain at AirNet. Is the cat out of the bag Starchkr? PM me.

Purvis, you hit the nail on the head...it was none other than myself. What a feeling, leaving Airnet after 5 and a half years...i almost feel like i have spent my entire life working here...well i guess i have spent my entire "flying" life working here. What a shock, call for interview on friday evening, interview on tuesday and the congrats call yesterday (wednesday). Awesome people and awesome place!!! I can't say enough good things about them!!! Actually Purvis, they are predicting that reserve will be very minimal if any due to the amount of new hires they are taking on in the next 9 months, but i really don't mind sitting reserve, especially with a 2 hour call out.

As far as your seniority number goes, there is a VERY good chance that you probably could have held it without a problem...I learned last night that there is at least one other captain who turned in their 2 weeks last night and will be venturing over to Net Jets next month. For some reason i also think i recall that another PIC spot should be coming open soon as well, but i can't remember which one for sure. So yeah, you probably could have done the 2 years to lear PIC thing, kinda funny how it works that way huh...but like you said, you need to not think about it anymore, you need to think about how you are going to pay your bills next month :laugh: :D ;) . Just messin' with ya man...

Meyers...as far as times go, when i was there interviewing there were a few guys with TT in the 4K's, and some with much more...BUT, that is not what Frontier is looking for. They have their mins on airlineapps.com, and as long as you meet those you will be considered for the position. Now the letter of rec is what they key in on after they see that you meet the mins...that is very important. Somehow, well i know how, i slipped through without having a single internal rec from Frontier...I got VERY lucky and was given a once in a lifetime shot since i didn't have one. They do interview without one, but it's usually just 99.9% with one and .1% without.
 
starchkr congradulations on the new job. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you but best of luck with everything. Any other news from Airnet with people getting into other positions? j/w
 
Had a Jetride guy leave for UPS recently I think or maybe it was Southwest, it was some major. If you choose to stay at Airnet and get into a jet it is definately possible to pretty much move anywhere you want from there if you have the patience and know how to network.

I know of people who have gone from Airnet to Regionals, SWA, UPS, FedEx, United, American, and multiple different corporate jobs includeing the Fractionals. Usually the prop guys leave for the regionals and the fractionals, jet captains leave for the majors.

The flying experience you get at Airnet is better than anywhere else you can get in the civilian world. Well maybe thats an exageration but not by much.

Finally as far as 135 operations go you will not find a better one. Training, Mx, etc. they operate 100+ aircraft they have to be on the ball or people get hurt. Plus they have never, in 30+ years have furloughed a pilot.

Guys/gals,

I've been reading up on Airnet a bit...Let me put it on the table and ask - for someone (retired military - not interested in pax flying, i'm surrently on active duty working in mission support, ppl only...) that wanted to fly for and stay at Airnet - would I be able to do that? I don't want to go somewhere if you are expected to leave after a few years...I don't want a stepping stone job...I like to commit to and stay with one job / career for a while....

I do not think it should be a problem. You just have to remember that AirNet has a pretty high turnover rate and that our culture is very much influenced by that, but we have several pilots that have been here 10-15+ years.

Just wondering - if you're flying for AIrnet, are you usually home every night (or morning as the case might be)?
Do your 5-6 legs return you to homebase every night or sometimes do you stay elsewhere??

For the most part I think they still get you home every morning. The flying is very concentrated. They are shifting the system around a bit so some reserve spots are a bit different but for the most part your home every morning. Some of the guys still flyin' cargo can elaborate more.

I would say 85-90% of the runs bring you back home very night. This is not the same for floater/reserve pilots. But, if you have a regular run, you will most likely be home every day/night.

I'm with ya starcheckdriver...i don't think i will change mine either. This name is how i am known, but i will probably edit my avatar to shown half of the current one plus add in one of Frontiers tails or something...i still have not decided exactly.
 
Airnet Bases in So. Florida

Is it possible for one to get KFXE or KOPF? Either right out of training or bidding for the piston? If so, how long does it take? Actually, I think remeber someone telling me KFXE was a jet base, so just KOPF.
 
Quick question for you AirNet guys....

I just completed the online app., what is the typical timeframe one can expect to wait for a call from HR..... if you are gonna get one???
 
I don't work for airnet, but after I filled out the online app it took about a week before I got a call from them, then it took two days after I updated my app to get the next call. And if you want to fly freight in the north west aeroflight is hiring right now.... got an interview coming next week with them.
 
I'm a good two years from 135 mins...but flying freight is something that really interests me..more so now than pineing away for a regional job. Obviously in this time lots can change, but I'm just curious about the equipment and avaliability of getting PHL or TEB as a base? I thought I read they are less desireable, I guess due to cost of living?

Airnet just seems like a better stepping stone to the Fracs and Majors than Mesa...or all the rest soon enuf. ;(

I'm not sure what you are asking, but I try to answer!

AirNet has C310, BE58, C208, PA31 and the LJ35's. The one thing that really convinced me to come work for AirNet was the maintance. If something is broke it get's fixed.

TEB, PHL and BDL are bases that are open "all the time" and yes the cost of living is high. I was in TEB for 3 years and a two bedroom close to NYC (the wife worked in the city) was at that time $1700. But depending on how picky you are there are something for everybody.

I'm from NJ so I do have the out of living at home for a year or two until I can afford to get an ok place...not that it thrills me, but it would be beneficial career wise in this case.

Yeah, sorry for not being clearer. I was asking about what equipment is used on the PHL, TEB, and BDL runs. They are all LR bases I think? But which props? I guess I would be most interested in which props are based at TEB.

All of them except the C310!
