Goflyme,
I would agree that we need to be humble. The numbers speak volumes, and adding shrill voices to the debate does nothing to change what is reality. I, for one, do not have any false illusions. This is a tough industry, and we are in the toughest times in the history of commercial aviation.
Most often we are responding to the same old tired litany of criticism regarding our company. We like our company, we like our people. So we feel oligated to respond. Maybe we shouldn't. But there are many who are in dire circumstances who seem to have plenty of time to bash us, and everything we do. Maybe they need some humility, too. God knows we all need more humility.
For everyone who is just trying to make it, good luck. I personally hope that every airline can survive and prosper, and that we can all have time for some friendly debate.
