Goflyme,
I would agree that we need to be humble. The numbers speak volumes, and adding shrill voices to the debate does nothing to change what is reality. I, for one, do not have any false illusions. This is a tough industry, and we are in the toughest times in the history of commercial aviation.

Most often we are responding to the same old tired litany of criticism regarding our company. We like our company, we like our people. So we feel oligated to respond. Maybe we shouldn't. But there are many who are in dire circumstances who seem to have plenty of time to bash us, and everything we do. Maybe they need some humility, too. God knows we all need more humility.

For everyone who is just trying to make it, good luck. I personally hope that every airline can survive and prosper, and that we can all have time for some friendly debate.

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

It really shouldn't matter how many airplanes you have, whether you are a major or not, and not even necessarily if your airline is the top profit maker. What matters is if you enjoy your status at your airline, you make a good wage for the work you do, and have a comfortable feeling as far as job security goes. I currently feel good about all these things and I thank God every day that he has blessed me with this. Nothing else is as important as that!

goflyme -- I apologize if the facts and my enthusiasm for jetBlue offends you. I'm not trying to flaunt anything. The fact is we are hiring and this is primarily an interview message board. Those who read our posts get the opportunity to learn more about the company in this forum.

I make no apologies for trying to set the record straight against those who would spread rumors and lies about our company. I admit that there are a couple of people on this board who irk me because it seems like it is their mission on earth to bash us with lies and cheap shots at every opportunity. It would benefit us all if they departed the fix. However, I value the truth and feel compelled to set the record straight.

I'll take the hit on humility. God knows I'm thankful for this job--I thank him every day. I also have lots of pilot friends who are currently pursuing non-flying careers while they are furloughed or not being hired. My heart and prayers go out to them and everybody in the same situation. I'll try harder to temper my enthusiasm for this job with the reality that some might find it offensive.

the real ranking system ...

There is only one criterea that matters when ranking airlines ...

the number one airline is the one that hires you all of the rest stink.

Lifter made a good point in suggesting a rank according
to furlough numbers, here it is :

1. US, 1780
2. DL, 1060
3. UA, 1020
4. AA, 925
5. NW, 640
6. CO, 440
7. SW, 0
8. AW, 0
9. Alaska, 0

Intruder None

Let me guess....

"Why do post about them keep comming out under Majors?"

Judging by the advanced grammar / spelling usage above, 'Intruder None' is surfing the net for his 3rd grade book report ??

7,8, and 9 are all hiring.

I'm not so sure all of those are actually hiring. While some may be interviewing or taking applications, if they are not currently running classes then I'm not sure that by definition they are actually "hiring". Small point but we don't want to lead anyone astray.

All three are currently running classes.

Hey Race Pilot,

I like your new avatar. Good luck at JB.

Regards from a competitor (Citrus).

Hey Race,
Congratulations on JB! The last I read, you were still considering it. What did ATA say to you about the change?

Thanks

XGmaninGA and ACWild - thanks for the well wishes.

ATA was very nice to me about the whole thing. As I mentioned on here before it was a VERY tough decision but one that I though was the best for me. Anyone who is looking at ATA, they are a GREAT bunch of people up there and I think anyone would be happy there (I got two friends hired before I left). Only thing is they are highly leveraged (#2 next to United I was told by one of the VPs) and are now in discussions about concessions less than nine months after signing the new contract. But if they make it out of this, which I hope they do, it will be a great place for a lot of guys.

XGmaninGA - Guess we may run into one another in the terminal in ATL sometime after May 8th. I will certainly be bidding a good number of those trips. Interesting times ahead my friends. :D
