People that fly into aspen don't want to go there in a prop. United knows this. AWAC is currently flying the 146 into aspen until April 2006...and longer if united extends it longer for those 5 - 10 airframes.

Then why are all the Dash-8s typically full? People also don't want to fly on RJs. If the price is right, they somehow still buy the ticket, but don't want to go.

Wait till ski season begins then you will see the kind of people that's being talked about!
Plus something like 10 round trips a day from DEN alone, full airplanes equals 800 people or more! Thats a lot of Dash flights.

Yesterday on the DIA ramp radio I heard some crotchety old UAL captain barking at the controller about "some little RJ" blocking his taxi.
ATC rip his tired a$$hole a new opening by identifying the aircraft correctly as a BA-146 and told the idiot to following his instructions and taxi 'around' the aircraft.

From my post a few weeks ago...

Not gonna happen. SkyWest has submitted an order to Bombardier for CRJ700's retrofitted with CF34 engines currently used on the 900. Heard its only 6 aircraft but will be solely denver based aircraft for Aspen flying.

The CF34-8C1 engine is no longer going to be supported. This is the reason for the change. While it is true that all future 700s are going to have the 900 engine (CF34-8C5), it is derated to the same thrust output as the CF34-8C1. There are no performance improvement benefits, so any rumors that say otherwise can be discounted.
