Just wondered if anyone had heard what was becoming of Air tahoma. I know that many would like to see them go under for the recent accident that took the life of one. Having worked there myself for quite a while. I know what kind of outfit they are running and personally I would like to see them go under. Primarly for the safety of others in this world. when I think back on the times I had there I remember that we joked many times about how the company would get us killed. Sadly it has, and for many it will leave a deep inpression over the coming years.

Air Tahoma

Well I just left Air Tahoma myself, but not for any great traumatic experience. I just wanted to be closer to home. Sure they don't pay well, and they don't always have a lot of respect for their employees personal lives, but they are a small-time freight operator... They aren't the worst, and they aren't the best.
The current group of pilots is all new faces, I'm sure that you wouldn't recognize them. It appears as though they are set up for the same cycle of atrition that the company is famous for. I doubt that any of the new faces will last more than 6 months. Once again-self inflicted crisis...
We've probably all got the answers for them, or think that we do, but in the end they will continue to do as they have.
As far as safety is concerned, I know everyone out there has some sort of horror story, and I am not trying to refute any of them. For me, I don't really have too many, because if I wasn't comfortable I didn't do it. Period. We can also thank Mr. E-Handle for that!
So even though it wasn't the greatest thing going for any of us "veterans", we can at least look back on all the old times and be greatful for the Convair time, which is so relevant in this day and age...

Seems like everyone is happy to get out of there alive...what does that say about the company?

Also, my friend Chris in Air Tahoma Ops says the guy who Captained the aircraft that crashed recently (which killed the First Officer) has been PROMOTED to Director of Operations. YIKES!!!

Well thats one way to get ahead... Kill the competition! With that company I'm not surprised it happend. I hope the family of that guy sues there asses off.

On lighter note I wonder if that means all the lights must be dimmend in the OPS center.

Although there are already several "dim lights" in their ops center. Wrong Captain...guess again (new guy).

What happened with Bud being the DO?
Sounds like Bud was just a temporary DO due to being the owner. He made the brand-new captain of the Tahoma plane that just crashed (The brand-new FO was killed) Director of Ops!!! By doing that he will be able to keep full control over EVERY decision he makes...therefore Bud will still be making all of the calls with this guy taking all of the liability.

Consistent too: Bud's daughter geared-up a plane on a check-ride so she's Director of Safety.

To-homo-ass....

Tahomos,

Regarding Air Tahoma, you do not have your facts correct regarding jumpseat abuse, employee positions (i.e. DO), the accident, a gear up landing, or women pilots. It sounds as though you have a real vendetta going. From what I have been able to determine things are moving forward well at Air Tahoma.

Really? So I was hallucinating about a year ago when I saw a memo from ALPA National regarding the permanent blackballing of Air Tahoma from the JS for abuse?

What is your definition of going"forward well" Fly-Bi? The recent crash due to a combination of mechanical failure and insufficient training? The 3-day "heavy-checks"? 6 engine losses between 4 aircraft within a month?
Which other facts are "incorrect"? Women pilots? Ok then, how many do they have? Who is the DO if not the guy who was in the crash? Why did ALPA black-ball them from jumpseating? How come USAir (non-ALPA) still let's them abuse this privelege?
Is this a "vendetta" or am I just trying to help the poor pilots that have to put up with this crap daily?
Let's hear it sunshine....I want to know what is incorrect....xoxo

fly bi is a smart one!

Fly bi how can you for one second say ATI is a safe good place to work? I'm guessing that you are a low time, under qualified pilot that has no place better to go. ITs not a bad thing I was there myself. Sitting at ATI hoping not to die. Let me give a few examples of things that are screwed up. These are facts! Took a 240 out a heavy check and the plane did not have cover on a junction box in the nose well, NO ILS recievers installed, Auto feather not working, thats just a few things that was seriosly wrong with the checked and inspected ready to go aircraft. Another occasion I was flyin with Troutman out PIT to CVG in 156PA had a engine that would only put out 38 inches at the fire wall with adi, but that was a enough for a good safe operating airplane. Maybe I should make a quick reference to the director of safety... well I recieved a memo that if the company got fined because I didn't put a diaper around the engine I would pay for the fine. HMM well if a plane is maintained and i leaks 9 gallons of oil a hour while running there is not a snow ball chance in hell I'm paying a fine. Sounds like all of this is great maintence practice. Thats just to list a few things that are seriously messed up there. If you look at the track record and violations on the rude family you will find there is no safe future for ATI. If you consider the fact that in my starting class out of 8 pilots I was the last one left, and that was only 8 months later that tells you something. Its all right that you are stuck there now, but get out why you can. Further don't kid your self for one second that the rude family, and ATI will ever ever be a "safe good company". I have no vendetta against them, but I would not hesitate one second in repeating anything I said here in front of a jury at the civil suit that the poor FOs family should have against ATI, and the safe company that is moving forward.

USAir mainline is ALPA, as are most of thier feeders, except for Chautauqua, Colgan, and Shuttle America (No Longer an Express carrier)

But it's been a year so most have forgotten, mabye someone needs to remind everybody.

I have seen their payscale and even the CPT wages look really horrible, not to mention the FO.

How does someone even afford to work there? Thats the real question

fly22

Who do you think you are? You ain't $hit. Don't think that we don't know what is going on over there. You would have to be one dumb pilot to think otherwise. The jumpseating deal is real, it's been abused and it should not be allowed. Sorry but your owners need to pay up when they want you to travel or you could take a luxurious brown van to MEM/ later

tahoma sucks a$$!

If you have not been there you just don't know. FSDO was called as well as OSHA. It's called kick backs cause they turned the other cheek. The dangers there are real as you can see. This family has a disregard for life and an appetite for evil greed!
