Air Force Pilot Slots

As posted above, the AF produces about 1000 pilots a year. There are always slots available. Don't let a recruiter (or anyone else) BS you. Yea they're going to try to steer you to something else, that's their job. Figure out what you want, and figure out the path(s) to get there. And don't take "no" for an answer.

Sometimes, Active Duty is saying "No" because they think you'd be more competitive for something else--Pilots want to be pilots, simple as that.

Other times, the quota for OTS for pilots is ACTUALLY FILLED for THAT Fiscal Year--This does happen, and the recruiters aren't necessarily feeding you a line.

That being said, applying in the summer gives you first crack at the next FY's slots.

Good luck. If you really want to be a mil pilot, there are lots of options out there. Look at EVERY one of them.
