These morons should be treated as pariahs and undermined at every opportunity. They're a bunch of self-serving scumbags.
I'm sort of out of this now that I'm "retired" at age 60, but I guess that makes me OK with you then, right?

Of course the next question is just who are these people that you speak of so disrespectfully. I presume you mean those who will fly past age 60. Well that will be about 95% of the pilot group because there will be nothing magic about age 60. Some hate their jobs for different reasons and these people will retire earlier than age 60, and some will retire later for whatever their reason up to age 65. So where is the cutoff for those you will choose to hate and treat like a scumbag, is it the 95% of the pilots you will be flying with? Could it be you too, who will fly past age 60? Are you that different that you are in the 5%. Do you really think that you will choose to quit at age 60. How could that be when I have heard so many like you say that now they are going to have to work past age 60 to age 65. So that means you and your like minded friends too. You will have to hate so many people including yourself. Does it not?

I would suggest that you realize this and just readjust. Many have done that on this board. There is no happiness in hatred. I'm over this and I lost, just like you and your friends. It's just the way it goes. Win some lose some, you lost and I lost. So who do you hate for real? Probably me, but I'm not even an over age 60 pilot. I though they were the enemy. So please do you really know just who you will hate? Could you please be more specific in just your captains will have to do to be a person you hate and to be a scumbag on your flights?

You mean like the rest of the ICAO rules that we have exceptions to???--->Yup, that's right.

Come on...just because the euros want to shove something down the collective throats of the rest of world, we don't have to listen.--->Yup, thats right We do it all the time.--->Yup, that right too Now for some reason this becomes the 'right thing to do'??--->I guess it did a few years ago. but I wasn't at the negotiating table, and I don't think you were either. But whoever the US representative was that was there, obviously his boss was happy with his decision, or the U.S. wouldn't have gone along with the age change that allowed foreign pilots over age 60 to fly in our airspace. Where were the complaints then? Remember, we now live in a Global Economy. What a bunch of bull$hit.--->Most politics is. It is the art of compromise. Most laws get passed that way.

These morons should be treated as pariahs and undermined at every opportunity. They're a bunch of self-serving scumbags.--->Sounds like your human factors folks and professional standards people are really gonna be busy in the near future. Why don't You save everyone the time and effort and go tell your Chief Pilot what you just posted here...or are you just one of those guys who spouts off behind some obscure screen name...but is a total mouse in the cockpit?

Let us know how that meeting with the Chief Pilot goes.

You'll be dead shortly after you retire.

Scoreboard.

Does this mean you're not coming either?

For those who have never known:

The Mai Tai is a well-known alcoholic cocktail purportedly invented at the Trader Vic's "Polynesian-style" restaurant in Oakland, California in 1944. Trader Vic's amicable rival, Don the Beachcomber, claimed to have created it first in 1933 at his own newly opened little bar (later a famous restaurant) in Hollywood. The Beachcomber's recipe is far more complicated than that of the Trader's and tastes quite different.
"Maita'i" is the Tahitian word for "good." The spelling of the drink, however, is two words.[1][2][3]
The Trader Vic story of its invention is that the Trader (Victor J. Bergeron) created it one afternoon for some friends who were visiting from Tahiti. One of them tasted it and cried out: "Maita'i roa!" (Literally "good very!", figuratively "Out of this world!") — hence the name.

Recipe

There are many recipes for mai tais. Seven of them, including three different versions of Trader Vic's, as well as the supposed original recipe of Don the Beachcomber, can be found here.
I can not believe anyone has actually become an airline pilot......and does not know what a mai tai is. Sigh...............I guess it comes with the back pack and the frosted hair tips.

You'll be dead shortly after you retire.

Scoreboard.

Only in your dreams ***********************************. I suspect that anyone with as much built up frustrations as your ilk will die way before us older pilots. I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

Since your intellect isn't doing you any favors, perhaps nice is the way to go in your case.

Hey Zonker, does your train of thought have a caboose? Stop fighting what is a fact and start worring about all the real threats to your job, of which the age 65 deal is no more than a pimple on your sorry ass. So you have the option of working another five years. BFD, as this is simply not a big factor in the career path you selected. BTW it was unanimous in Congress, so I guess you just don't get it. The oposition settled this in the halls of Congress while you *************************'s whined about it on FI.

Not a factor? You aren't very bright are you? We're all working more for less now, thanks to you and your brain dead pals.

I'll leave the age 65 flying for corpses like you. Don't blow a ventricle, pops.

Yea, I might be your pops but the best part of me dripped down your moms leg. Get off my planet you dork. I bet your a loser Delta pilot to boot, but then if your parents were really married, they would not have hired you to begin with. I hear you and the General are a couple over there on Virgina Ave?

Many members do not know this but most all of the hotly worded age-60/65 posts on this Board as well as others from other boards were cut and pasted every day and sent to the US Senators and Representatives, unedited. This was done with the click of one send button each day. Is it a wonder the age-60 rule was passed by 390 to 0. Just think for a minute of your past posts on this subject. Then, maybe you too can take credit for the passage

It's sad when you've meandered past middle age and you come to the realization that you have nothing going on in your life but a crappy airline job, isn't it?

Oh wow.

Good info. I'll be more careful next time you guys decide to dick up the industry again.

It doesn't matter if I agree with you on this or not but you show a lack of respect in all your posts. BTW to me you're "POPS" . Stop mouthin off and show some class in your posts. Behind a computer you act tough, face to face I'll bet it's very different.

You'd have to give me a reason to respect you, tough guy.

You haven't. And neither has the gummer crowd.

I think you thought a MaiTai it was a "gay drink" just as you wrote... blah blah blah, I'm an idiot... Come on, tell the truth, you thought it was a "gay drink" just as you posted.

Undaunted, are you retarded or what? Do you know what sarcasm is? You misspelled the name of the drink several times (Mia Tia's on post 41 of this thread) and I was making fun of you for it. Perhaps you should go back to school, repeat the 4th grade and learn how to spell... maybe the teacher will tell you what sarcasm is while you're there. Idiot.

But you think MaiTai is a "gay drink" don't you? Give it up!

Hey Gummer,
Don't get me wrong, I like a good Mai Tai but I can see where one could assume it is a gay drink. Little umbrellas and pieces of fruit adorning this little pinapple juice concoction can be construed as being unmanly. But that is a different matter. The post you keep commenting on asked if a "Mia Tia" was some kind of gay drink. I have never heard of a Mia Tia. That does not mean it does not exist...maybe it just runs in different crowds. Maybe those of the homosexual persuasion like Mia Tias or girls out on their bridal parties tend to order them. Since I am not of that persuasion or female, I would not know. Maybe the poster thought from all your previous flaming posts that maybe.....
Maybe you could head of some criticism next time by learning how to spell right...or maybe by just not posting here anymore.

So you think it's a gay drink too? It must be true because two of our members think so. I guess it is a little gay now that you mention it. Maybe next time I'll get a Margarita, but that seems a little gay just by the name.

Maybe its a good think you are out of commercial flightdecks as comprehension levels are the first thing to go as one ages!
But, I am sensitive to the challenges our seniors face and I am willing to help you out once again...free of charge! I never said a Mai Tai was a "gay" drink. I just took a cheap shot at humor in stating the reasons one could think it is. That being said, the Mai Tai is not a "gay" drink so you can feel safe in your masculinity to order one up next time you are out at the Golden Corral Buffet. I hear the acidity of the drink can wreak havoc on your dentures so I would order them sparingly if I were you.
I cannot help you out with the Mia Tia though as I have no idea what one is. You are on your own with that one.

I really don't know what a MiaTia is. I think you must have mis-spelled it. Maybe that's a gay drink?
In any event, I'm drinking beer and wine now that I've lost my captain job.

Well, I'm drinking rubbing alcohol and Boone's Strawberry Hill because I am stuck with horrendous FO payrates for several more years. Check your #41 post in regards to Mia Tias. I dunno, if it makes you happy, it could be a gay drink. Are you looking for one?

Mamma: You've really got a funny way of saying things. Hollywood is looking for writers I hear. Have a Mia Tia at Trader Vic's.

HAHAHAHAHA! Perfect! Don't forget the Colt 45 malt liquor. At FO pay rates, you need the maximum alcohol per $. Ramen noodles and Colt .45 - Yum.

You'll be dead shortly after you retire.

Zonker....go get some help...it appears that you are mental...better yet, tell your AME about this uncontrolled anger you have at your next flight physical.

All the best to you and yours,

Tejas

Truthfully, the best part of a job with a major airline is the time off that comes with the job. That allows many of us to pursue other interests.

In my case, the time off alowed me to complete my military career as a USAF reservist. As a "poor" F/O I was able to invest in rental properties, that are now paying off handsomely....and will get better yet with the current mortgage crisis.

I am now senior enough that I am able to puruse one of my all time best jobs ( albeit, part time)... that is as a high school baseball umpire.

Life is now good for me. As F/O's, all of you need to invest now, so that when you get to the point where you have 11 years...errrr....I mean 16 years left ( like me) , you too will have many interests away from your real job ( whatever that might be).

and most importantly....I have a lot of time with my family...and I absolutely love that !!!

flying is fun...but life is more than just the flying

I will not be able to attend the party because it's too expensive for me. If any of you should attend this party to celebrate the age change please post about the festivities.

Maybe if you got rid of a couple of airplanes and made your kid pay his own way you could afford it.

By the way, United is hiring FO's. You spouted for months that it was about your love of flying. Get your app in old man.
