Not sure if it was already posted, but, for now, it's still age 60 for retirement. Just got the union email. They said that it will up for appeal by Congress, though. This is huge for all active and furloughed pilots.

:)

Can't find any announcements on this. Don't doubt it, just lookin for a link. Thanks.

Good to Hear

Did they vote it down? Just curious. When is it for a revote or appeal? I am not Union anymore so I don't get the inside scoop like I used to.

Thanks,

CD

YYYYYYEEEEEHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA

AWSOME FU*KING NEWS.............. Hope its right, cause I have'nt seen the proof either.

I just called Senator Inhofe's office (who is sponsoring this POS) and according to them, the vote has not yet taken place.

age 66

watch out here comes age 66 121 flying, you know the last guy flying part 121 over the age of 60 in scheduled passenger service, retired at age 69 in the year 1999, grandfathered 135 scheduled commuter under the part 119 rules

The amendment was stripped yesterday from the House resolution by a rep from Alaska. I have not heard about the senate bill yet.

Just watched the senate roll call vote on C-SPAN. The Inhofe amendment S.B. 824 did not pass. The vote was 52-44.

Thank God!!!

That's great. Our industry needs all the help it can get!!
Does anyone know if they are planning any kind of rebuttal? Is there any course of action the may try to take to overturn this ? Also, does the house have to pass it too? I wasn't sure if this was a regular law or some kind of special legislation. As I stated earlier I am no longer union so I don't have the inside scoop anmore. Please forgive my lack of knowledge in legislative actions.

Thanks,

CD

This is a good sign for all the young guys who are furloughed, pooled or waiting for an interview and trying to feed their families.

Just so I can see the great news for myself, where did you find this info? Also, is there a list of how each member voted?

Thanks for passing along the best news I have heard in a while!

Here's how the senators voted. Note which way most of the Republicans voted. Frickin' Republican pricks..... That said, Dole and Lott both voted no, Dole most likely because she's a former DOT secretary. I'm not sure what Lott's rationale was....amazing.

Age 60

I know most are happy about the age 60 staying, but lets take a look of some of the past. Airlines had a rule that cut off anyone over 30 to be hired, male only ect. those have been corrected and rightly so. The Mid East still has age 35 upper limit on age(with 1500 hr. jet pic) for FO jobs. The EU now has 65 as max age,Australian rule is no upper age as many other countries. Next month I can give a check ride or an IOE to a pilot that has never been in the real aircraft before, but on the 23rd of the month I will be flying part 91,135 or 125 in the same airspace, but not allowed to sit in the pilot seat of a 121 aircraft. I do think that gender, race and yes age should not be a player. Go ahead and flame me. Did I know the rules before I got on? Yes,but several years ago I flew with a pilot that was hired in 1957 and he was looking foward to 65. Mobs
