If you guys want to do extra flying, that's your call. If you want to sound like a kid, that's your call too. Been plenty of mud thrown by both sides. Don't you think it's about time to knock that off?
Absolutely. I was just responding to your own "flying boxes and rotor and wing". What's that they say about glass houses and stones? All the bickering aside, we are taking care of the things we deem most critical as are you. I live local and hurt more than you can know for all my neighbors and friends that work the sort, maintenance and the office. Certain Astar pilots have maintained that you should have moved back to CVG and your problems would be solved. There was no concern for the thousands of job losses that would have meant. Why now? Because now it includes you. Believe me when I say I don't want this to happen to anyone(even Astar).

I'm local too FB. Moved here over two years ago. My personal take was there would be a merger of the two companies. What DPWN/DHL is doing is suicide. Unless there is going to be a "globalization" of the DHL/UPS relationship. It's the only rational explaination of what they are doing. (I know, I know, flame me for using "rational" in the same sentence with DPWN/DHL) Are they going to succeed? Probably so. What I do know is this is the last chance to stick it to the man. We've been doing it for the past 4 years now. It would be nice to have some company for a change.

All mud slinging aside, and I seriously mean that; every time any union were at heads with corporate management they have always ALWAYS ended up with some sort of public outlet to gain the support of the public. Well, now it's the publics turn looking for support against corporate management's decision. The right thing to do would be to support the public that they turned to for support in the past. While all of the efforts may not result in a change in the situation, I still think you have to try and help where and when able. This last rally had low count of 100 high count 250 people in attendance. I think it should have been better organized, it still had a very low turn out for the thousands of sort workers. That does not mean they do not care because they were not there. There are close to 10,000 signatures for a reason. Maybe the next one will be better organized. While I hate to use a quote that is posted on a site where 90% of it's members have always called for the destruction of DHL and Airborne before that. It is still a good quote and a few others to think about doing the right thing in this situation.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
That is a bastardized version. The actual quote is from Thoughts on the Cause of Present Discontents: ‘When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.’

When good men do nothing, they get nothing good done. To be good, one must do good. The Lord commands his people to do good (Luke 6:35; Eph. 2:10).

Christ "gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works" (Titus 2:14).

"To do Good is like ascending a mountain. To do Evil is as easy as following an avalanche." - Chinese Proverb

“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up.” - Anne Lamont

“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

“Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.” - Mark Twain

I still say FIGHT! :angryfire

Maybe that's because you have extra pilots hanging around from their sick calls recently. The ABX guys were probably out flying recovery trips. And before you get all riled up about that, you need to tell us when you are calling to make a point to management. That way we can differentiate between that and the usual recovery we do for Astar

Not flaming here FB, but the 1224 Sec/Treas was advised of our plans in advance. We'd hoped there would be some action on their part. Obviously, the Exec. Board isn't interested. Been that way forever. We call, nothing happens. Of course, now you're going to say that's not true, and I'm not going to bother refuting you.

Well then the 1224 sec/treasurer kept that to himself. See, I didn't say that's not true.

Parked a bunch this am. How many do we have to park before you guys run out of crews for crying out loud? ;)
