I think 2 or 3 did show up but they were not in uniform. The rest were not told about it.
We actually met in the 1224 parking lot for the march.
again at the rally today in ILN. What are you guys doing over there, working on a powerpoint for DPWN? Beyond words, pitiful.
For years now you Astar folks have been telling us how the ABX ground workers are the reason for your delays. "They loaded us late on purpose. They pushed us late. They didn't serve napkins with our meals." wah, wah, wah. Now you want everyone to believe you only have their best interests at heart about the job losses. What a bunch of hypocrites. You got caught with your pants down like everyone else and you need to bash ABX pilots to feel better. Don't worry about we are doing. Go ask dasburg and the general what they are up to in regards to your future. Best of luck to you all (seriously). We are all going to need it.
Of course not FB. We're participating because we all need to since DPWN has dropped the nuke. If you guys have other things to do, ok then. I never thought I'd see the day where ALPA acted more like Teamsters than Teamsters do. How many times have you guys picketed since this all started? I think it's zero. We're lobbying and visiting DC as well, but we've always got time for some good old fashioned picketing.
Maybe that's because you have extra pilots hanging around from their sick calls recently. The ABX guys were probably out flying recovery trips. And before you get all riled up about that, you need to tell us when you are calling to make a point to management. That way we can differentiate between that and the usual recovery we do for Astar
Absolutely. I was just responding to your own "flying boxes and rotor and wing". What's that they say about glass houses and stones? All the bickering aside, we are taking care of the things we deem most critical as are you. I live local and hurt more than you can know for all my neighbors and friends that work the sort, maintenance and the office. Certain Astar pilots have maintained that you should have moved back to CVG and your problems would be solved. There was no concern for the thousands of job losses that would have meant. Why now? Because now it includes you. Believe me when I say I don't want this to happen to anyone(even Astar). If you guys want to do extra flying, that's your call. If you want to sound like a kid, that's your call too. Been plenty of mud thrown by both sides. Don't you think it's about time to knock that off?
I still say FIGHT! :angryfire

Not flaming here FB, but the 1224 Sec/Treas was advised of our plans in advance. We'd hoped there would be some action on their part. Obviously, the Exec. Board isn't interested. Been that way forever. We call, nothing happens. Of course, now you're going to say that's not true, and I'm not going to bother refuting you.
Well then the 1224 sec/treasurer kept that to himself. See, I didn't say that's not true.
Well, then I stand corrected.![]()

Parked a bunch this am. How many do we have to park before you guys run out of crews for crying out loud?![]()
Run OUT or pay JRM? Big differance, if ABX did not pay JRM we would be out long before you. Astar crews alot more pilots per a/c than ABX!
Parked a bunch this am.
What's that mean for your crews, hvy? What all got parked?
The ABX corporate culture had an 18% market share. DHL had less than 5. The new DHL has less than 5%. Who was better? You do the math. The German arrogance trumps ABX arrogance. Not by much, but DHL made the big decisions that led to their downfall and will end with their disappearing from the US market. It's a shame to see Astar and ABX going at each other but I can't help feel this is a contributory factor to the demise of DHL in the USA. As some one who flew feeders prior to the merger, the difference is night and day. DHL was a wonderful operation to fly for in the feeder capacity, UPS not as good and ABX were the worst.
Post merger despite DHL buying out ABX it was the ABX corporate culture that prevailed and not the better one. Instead of everybody being DHL employees under one standard, corporate values and mission, what I observed was Astar and ABX guarding their personal fiefdoms and a bunch of independent contractors in the field who don't give a s**t-I'm not surprised it went downhill and that's a shame.
I'm very skeptical that this new plan is going to result in the long term health of DHL. Customers in the smaller markets will move their work to UPS and Fedex which will result in DHL having a small presence in the US. It's a shame because there will be the inevitable job losses in an industry that is not doing to well, there is more than enough business to support three viable package delivery companies-it looks like we'll end up with two.
