AA seeks to cancel labor contracts

What this means is that you will see Eagle flying 737s by 2015, you just wait and see. Then the dominos will fall. RyanAir in Europe already pays their 737-800 FO's about $27,000/year and Doug Parker is drooling.

The company pays your pay check not APA the sooner you fools learn that and stop demanding you be paid top dollar to sit home and run your yogurt shop the better off you will all be.

American is running a business not a charity, they need pilots to work not sit home and complain, taxi slow.

the company's hold the ultimate trump card not APA, when they get tired of trying to deal with pilots that dont want to work then they file BK...game over for you guys.....the company wins......again.....when will you learn.
 
But cash has increased to $5.41 billion. Admittedly, I am not an MBA (praise Jesus) but it seems to me that the bean counters would have incentive to show huge accounting losses at a time when they are attempting to make the case for voiding labor contracts.

Current liabilities of over 9 billion....... Ouch.
 
A lot of stuff about RyanAir is unknown in America. Their pay scale is weird, some euro system unlike our minimum guarantee. I work with lots of guys that bailed from there to go to Emirates. RyanAir pilots PAY for their own re-currents every 6 months, pay for their own airport ID badges, pay for a bottle of water on the plane, and the list goes on and on. Not sure about what RyanAir Captains make, but Captains leave to come to be FOs at Emirates.

Back to American, the old guys will sell out the young guys. They will work some deal that is okay for them until their retirement, in turn, break the scope for the regionals to fly 737-800 size aircraft. Its a business, they can't compete unless they do.

This massive pilot retirement will be shifted down to the regionals. No way the Legacies are going to replace their aging workforce with Legacy wages, just no freaking way...All you will see left of the Legacies will be a brand name and some wide bodies. If you don't believe me, study the last 10 years of Qantas.
 
Too bad we don't have a strong central union that is paid very well to look strategically at the situation and guide us to a long term solution.

A company is comprised of people, some are leaders, others followers, when the leaders are incompetent and destroy the company, are the followers to shut up and watch their CONTRACTUAL rights disappear???

I don't think he said for you to sit and do nothing. He said the pilots do not want to work and just want to get paid there monthly guarantee, and not work.


That is a very true statement.

If you where a company leader,would you want to pay your employees to sit and do nothing ?


At the least AA will be getting PBS. Delta and UAL wheee both forced to use it during bankruptcy .

It's a free market not a fantasy world; companies aren't required to pay more than they need to in order to fill a position and employees are free to leave a job and take a better one that pays more and treats them better. When the labor market is flooded the companies have the leverage, when the labor market is tight the employees have the leverage. If somebody wants to fly a 737 for 27K and pay for their own training that's up to them; if somebody else doesn't want to that's their choice as well.

There will always be people willing to take low paying airline jobs because they either need a job, need to gain experience to get a better job or they think the crappy job will develop into a better one. When and if the economy improves and the demand for pilots increases the lousy employers will see their pilots leave in droves for better jobs. Until then many pilots will be stuck in dead-end jobs.

That's what happens when companies fail. At this point it doesn't really matter how AMR got to this point or who was responsible, the past can't be changed. Contractual "rights" aren't going to do you much good if the company liquidates.

If the employees at AMR want to keep their jobs they need to figure out how to get the best deal they can under the circumstances and be part of a successful reorganization. The other option would be to make it clear to the creditors that they will not work with the current management team and hope for a leadership change or an aquisition which may or may not result in a better deal. Either way, things are going to have to change.
