After riding in the back of AA for the last 10 years I would have to say there crews are the rudest ever. I travel in uniform all the time, the flight attendants sometimes say hello or acknowledge I'm actually a passenger but for the flight crews I stopped saying hello years ago. What really pissed my off was we took the family to Orlando and exiting the airplane my 5yr old says thank you to the First Officer and the guy just looked at my son with no response. what a DK.. The other thing that gets me is on the last flight to DFW the flight crews always jump off the plane before all the pax are off. Are you not responsible for the pax on your plane?? Poor flight attendants I guess if something happens deplanning they just fend for themselves. Rant over you guys really have No customer service skills at all. Next time I will pretend I'm a box on FedEx it will be the same service

I don't work for AA but...

As a Captain, according to our FOM my responsibility for the pax ends when the doors open at the gate. The FAs are trained to take care of the pax if something happens and there is nothing that I can do that they can't. The CSAs are responsible for the pax when the aircraft is at the gate. There is no need for the pilots to stick around. I don't and neither does my FO.

I get paid to fly the plane and pax safely and economically from point A to point B. I don't get paid to board them, provide them inflight service, or to get them off the plane at the destination. I provide the service I am responsible for and that I get paid for.

If it makes you happy to pretend you're a box, have at it. You'll probably make everyone around you on the plane happier.

Plus the pilots may have to hump it over to another concourse for their next flight, due out in 15 minutes.

Let me guess, you are some fractional pilot who is all up in arms because the AA pilots didn't bow to your stripes.

#1) Airline pilots are not all that appreciative of fractionals taking our premium passengers, but so be it. At the same time, don't expect us to recognize you as a premier member of our community. If that hurts your feelings, so be it.

#2 As you travel out of Dallas, the pilots you are expecting to kiss your posterior are the same ones you may have forces to go around by slowing to 103 knots 10 miles out in a highly congested airport. Bad on him actually for thinking you would actually adhere to the ATC clearance of 170 to the marker. As a highly experienced aviator, he should have KNOWN you would come into DFW airspace and screw it all up. 100% his fault for letting it happen and for NOT thanking you for adding a valuable lesson to his arsenal of experience.

Anything else?

Not an AA guy, and I can see your point with the kids...
But as far as the rest goes:
-I want to be the first off the plane when my trip is done. I have another flight to do and want to get to the hotel or home. I'm home, or commuting home. Once the last checklist is run, I have no purpose on the plane. On the ground doors open The GSC is in charge. C-YA-BYE.
-Flight attendants have ground crews to help them in case "something happens" I have no authority once the door opens anyhow.
-Riding on Fedex is awesome... better service than just about any airline there is when riding the JS/nonrev. Your comparison has no relevance.

It's interesting to hear. Maybe it's time to switch your carrier? I wonder if you fly on others, you will really be that much happier? I know I welcome kids to the cockpit but i am sure we have pilots who don't care to, and we are LUV airlines!

DFW AA guys have always been nice to me. I'm a frac pilot and I fly in uniform all the time too. And I fly AA on vacation, not in uniform. Easiest airline I've experienced.

Nonrev On AA all the time, both commuting and on ZED's, have never had a problem and can mention plenty of times the Flight Crew have helped make sure I got on.

Some flight crews are nice and some have no business being in a customer service focused business like the airline industry. I had the same situation with a pilot at Southwest Airlines at PVD a few years ago waiting for the same flight I was going to be on. I tried to have a conversation with him. He was sitting there, doing nothing except looking around. He was very aloof and in his own little world. Not a friendly pilot at all. I also saw a flight attendant at National Airport coming back through security, meeting other flight attendants going through security. She was talking very loudly how much she doesn't like working for American as a flight attendant and etc, etc, ertc,. She was drawing stares from many people around her.

Youve never seen the ridest AA crew until you show up in a TWA uniform. Trust me.

Unless you work for... SWA. If the airplane has any kind of power on it it..pax or not, DON'T leave!! it WILL catch on fire!
While it is burning..let me show you my W-2. It's not that i'm bragging or anything. It is the simple fact that it defines me as a person.
Did I mention that I work for...
Whatever...someday their 4:30 am wake up call will be 10 minutes early....
reality will call. Sorry kids. It won't be fun! I don't wish it upon you whatsoever. I just think you all need to look outside the bubble...

Matter of time.

Its a three way split with AA V Us Air east V US air west(America West) good luck to that. I was told by a friend of mine who was a captain for US Air east that the AA way is the only way and the AA gestapo is in full control, there door is over there and don't let it hit you on the way out

Now they're trying it w/ USAir, and still no lube, dry penetration!

Actually, you have it backwards.

US Air bought American out of bankruptcy, over multiple American CEOs' objections (Arpey resigned over the bankruptcy filing he didn't want, and Horton had no interest in a merger until he was forced). US Air's CEO (DUI Doug), who drove the whole forced merger, is now in charge of it all with his people, so it's them doing the screwing in this situation .... to whomever is getting screwed.

Heya' Malcontented Fred,

I say that I'm not sure what you're talking about. Since this is a thread about American Airlines, one might think that's who you're talking about, but I can't imagine what "deal" you would be referring to.

If, on the other hand, you're just inserting your regular whine-and-bitchfest about Southwest in general or SWAPA in particular, then I say that you should probably start a new thread, or at least find a more appropriate one.

If you're just stalking me, however, then you might either PM me, or start a new thread concerning that, say a "Fred hates Bubba" thread or something along those lines. Be creative.

And finally, if you're talking about the SWAPA/SWA negotiations, I'd say that you're way premature on the matter (I hear there's a pill for that!). Nothing is coming to pass yet. We have a long way to go, and I'm personally feeling optimistic.

Anyway, that's what I say. Enjoy your day, Fred! :)

Bubba, you southwest doggies live in glass houses. I wouldn't be pontificating about some other airlines merger practices.

Yo, Scab-wannabe:

I wasn't "pontificating" about anything, let alone any other airline's merger practices. Are you really as ignorant as you seem to be? To be honest, it hardly seems possible.

All that I did was to add some unbiased, published, and easily-verifiable facts: who resigned, which side drove the merger, who was ultimately left in charge. I offered no opinion, no judgement, no spin of any sort.

I realize that this is all new to you, as you are unfamiliar with the idea of actual facts in general. So you really ought to go back to school and finish that GED you started way back when. At minimum, you should take a labor relations class and a history class. Those are the two subjects that, every time you open your trap, you demonstrate time and again that you don't know the first damn thing about either. Literally nothing. Oh yeah, while you're there, take an English class as well, so that you can stop looking like an illiterate monkey every time you try to make a post.

Good luck!

Bubba
