I overheard a conversation between two pilots at an airport that AA was in the process of taking back or at least THINKING about taking back some of its furloughed pilots.

PLEASE NOTE: I have NO sources. I just happened to overhear two people talking, and I thought I'd ask this board since you people tend to know what's going on.

I know what's like to have your seat pulled out from under you so I'm not trying to start up this topic in the interest of flaming. My deepest sympathies go to all the great guys/gals on the street due to the difficult operating environment.

Heard on CNN today 10/10 that they were recalling 400 flight attendants. That's not what your looking for, but hopefully it shows some sort of trend.:)

AA furloughed 110 Oct 1st.

They anounced furloughs of 116 Nov. 1st and, 102 Dec. 1st.

total on furlough after Dec. 1st will be 2,243. No furloighs planned for Jan but, will resume in Feb.

How many flow-through slots does AA have with Eagle? Are all of the new furloughs going to have the chance to fly left-seat for Eagle?

There are only a few slots available for AA furloughees to flow back into Eagle. This is a hot source of contention with the AE pilots whose union has filed yet another round of grievences over the issue. The reality is most AA furloughees are going to the street.

Again I refer you to www.apapdp.org Check out previous news releases they have put out. Also, I am no expert on these issues since I don't fly for an AMR carrier nor does my airline codeshare with them. I do have lots of friends at AA, Eagle, CHQ, and TSA. I hear lots of things from them and am glad I am not involved. I like most others on this list feel sorry for those affected.

Thanks for the clarification on this topic.

I bet that's what I must have heard (regarding the recall of FAs). Serves me right for eavesdropping. :D

This situation has been grim for so long. You start to wonder if the sun will ever shine again.

No one knows how many flow-backs there will be. All sides interpret the contact, and the arbitration ruling in there own way. As of right now, it looks like they are going to have 20 flow-backs a month, for an undetermined amount of time. The tension is very high at Eagle, we are tired of AA, APA, and AE attaching us from all sides. It seems that no matter what happens management sides with the AA pilots, but, that just the view from the bottom. I hope to god things turn around soon, careers are being ruined.

With 2500+ furloughs, massive displacements, decimation of vacation, sick, reserve system and medical and a 23% paycut; I'd hate to see what things would look like if management wasn't on our side ;).

I thought they were going to park 77 (?) of the Fokkers. That would not help. I thought 100 seat jets were "in" now? Maybe it is because Fokker is bankrupt and parts are hard to find....?

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

Ouch, good point.
Bottom line is, we need to somehow start working together and stop letting AMR turn us against each other. There is only one way to do that, and it will never happen.
While I'm posting I have a question for the AA pilots. What is your opinion of John D APA pres???

From what I understand about AA's Fokker fleet, they make all the parts that they need since Fokker isn't in business anymore. I've heard that AA has the largest Fokker fleet in the world, and that other operators come to them for spare parts.

Good thing they parked the logical F100 replacement that efficient, sustainable, and a proven winner...brilllant fleet planning. 717's only problem was that it was part of TW.

Makes you believe that the only reason they did was so they could grow Eagle with 70/90 seaters at starvation rates...nah, that couldn't be it.

Every RJ is two fewer seats on mainline. ALPA and APA dropped the ball on the RJ issue and condemned a whole lot of people to spend their careers at commuters.

On John Darrah, I've met him and he is a really nice guy. However, my policy is to not ever trust anyone who WANTS to be in a political office in ANY union.

Never trust a pilot who doesn't want to fly(the exceptions being those who would rather be in a bar, chasing skirt, golfing, hunting, boating or fishing:D )TC

Darrah

Whatever else you think of Darrah there is no way anybody does union work for the money, glamour or glory. If you have ever done it you know what I mean. This guy works way harder than any line pilot and for that I respect him.
