I'll do you one better: we absolutely should blame this on religion. However, not just on Islam, or Christianity, or Judaism, or whatever...ALL religion.

Until religion is dead or is at least relegated to being limited to being a personal psychosis without the insane desires to convert everyone in sight, people will always fight over who has the best imaginary friend in the sky.

The people that did this used the name of a religion to accomplish a political objective. Unfortunately they used our industry as the tool and will probably try again. 10 years later we're still hunting them down like the dogs they are. Any government that doesn't fully cooperate should be pushed aside, marginalized, and treated as the enemy.
