Just was passed some info that AA is meeting with Love officials and will be making an announcement early next week that AA will be returning to Love in the very near future. Evening news reports out of Dallas stated this. No details yet....should be interesting. Is it a response to the waiver for flights to Sen Bond's home state? Maybe...it should be prove to be interesting. Welcome to our friends from across the metroplex!!!

Can't wait to see 'em taxi. Moving like a glacier.:puke:

Does MO want anything to do with AA anymore after the way they treated TWA?

That's the main reason this "Amendment" to the Wright Amendment was undertaken by Senator Bond. AA has pissed this guy off from the get-go.
They came in and made all these promises and in true AMR fashion welched on almost every one.

Senator Bond is pissed and wants SWA to be the primary carrier in and out of STL. Ending the restrictions of the Wright Amendment to his state is one way to accomplish that goal.

After the way AMR treated the city of STL and MO I can't say that I blame him for undertaking this objective.

Interesting move.

The thing to watch is what they can negotiate as far as the number of available gates. If they can get 15 or more gates(subject to WA repeal), they will draw down D/FW to compensate. This will serve two purposes. It could make D/FW a more attractive airport to expand for the LCC's, and it will clog the existing operations and expansion plans for SWA at DAL.

There will probably be some Eagle RJ's moved over there. Herb and friends should hang out in the terminal and instigate mass defections!

Will they will go back to Austin again with 8 flights a day with an MD-80 with there 30 percent load factor? Should be another great move! As Bob Barker says...............Come on down!

AA won't get that many. We have leases on about 26, I think, someone correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, the main terminal is a long way from being able to operate that many gates. The jetways are not there. Also, a few buildings will have to be moved. I think a better move for AA would be to take the old Legend Terminal. They would be out of the way and could do their own thing.

Lowcur, you must not be a local. This is the same ole AA coming to Love field. They will come, lose money, and leave. Or maybe this time lose money and stay. We can compete at Love field, just as they can at DFW. The only sad part is that they have the nerve to ask employees for pay cuts, while they play cat and mouse at Love field and lose money.

Glad to have our American Airlines Amigos back at Love! I'm sure Gerard and crew have weighed all the factors in this decision and found some monetary or political benefit to it. It's just business--now spend some of that capital you expect to earn and give back some concessions, fund that pension or recall some of my brethren.

It's not fair! They shouldn't be allowed to come to Love!! Not fair!

I agree. Why should they come to Love when DFW is the masterpiece they say it is. They shouldn't be allowed to come to Love at all, let 'em live at DFW since they "love" it so much.

Whatever you say...

Now that's hard to believe. Is that a lifetime lease, or just 25 years? What do you operate now, 14 or 15?

Do you really believe the WA will be repealed with a 26 gate lockup on a total of 32? There will have to be compromises pally, and 26 gates won't cut it.

Mass defections . . . like anybody had to be convinced to leave??? Anybody that can get out of this place is already gone.

I think that the only reason they are coming to Love is so they can point out that it is feasible to operate at both DFW and Love fields with the Wright Amendment in place. Therefore if they can do it, so can SWA.

Of course, they won't mention the money they are willing to lose to prove this point.
