Great news!

But what did the union trade for keeping those 175 on the job???

Nothing traded, just a bunch of "I told you so!" regarding the undermanned status and the upcoming summer.

I think around 80 got furloughed March 1, so that would save close to 100 that were originally slated to go.

Hopefully, this is not some sort of sick April fool's joke!!! : - (

The 80 that were just furloughed were only back about a year and this is furlough # 2.

I am happy for those who dodged the bullet...Please tell me it is not true what I just saw on ALPC (below)... Are approx 244 Eagle FLOW-THROUGHS seriously going to be trained for hire at AA before they let the merged / stapled TWA guys come back????? Please tell me this is not true!:

Not to change the subject, but once the inevitable recalls start coming, does anyone know exactly how many Eagle flowthroughs will be ahead of the TWA recalees? Sorry, i really don't want to start a big war here, just wondering in case the recalls really happen...

reply:
Probably 244. All we really know is the arbitrator agreed those people should have been in class with recalled pilots. What we don't know is the final remedy and how it will be implemented. Answer (hopefully) by late May."

Why not? They are senior to the TWA guys. They even looked at total company time to see if the TWA guys were senior and the results were that the Eagle guys were senior using that measure as well.

Let me get this straight. TWA pilots merged with AA pilots and now are all AA pilots. There are hundreds of AA pilots on furlough. American is going to flow pilots from another airline, Eagle, BEFORE they recall all the real AA pilots. YGTBFKM. Someone must have stated this wrong, there is no way that can float. This is most definitely flame bait.

No, you just don't know the facts. There are several hundred AA pilots at Eagle and they were unfairly penalized during the TWA purchase. After a decade of grievances they are finally moving to AA.

"After a decade and finally moving is a stretch." That is not true. Arbitrator hasn't ruled anything, yet. I'm sure they will flow. Just not at this time.

That's the situation

That's about it.

Yes, he has ruled already. At this point there just waiting on the remedy. The Eagle guys I have talked to are hoping he will keep them there until the recall. From what I hear they would be pay protected back to the date they should have went over so they won't lose any pay or retirement benefits while waiting it out at Eagle. Of course why would those guys want to give up 150K a year and top schedules and no commute to be junior at AA. In my opinion they would be happy to stay as long as possible at Eagle.

I would wait until the ruling to assume what Nicalau will do. He heard hours of testimony that he didn't hear before.
Do you know that 244 pilots make 150K? Are you sure none of those 244 commute? They all live in base? They won't be that junior at AA. Some will be line holders from the get go.

They may be line holders but they will go to the junior bases . The senior bases have reenstatment lists that are a years long. They will not see ORD or DFW for years and years.

Okay so this is all very confusing. I thought AA was going to retire half of its pilots in 7 years. Do you have the official forecast?

As of the Jan 21st update, 1,887 still on furlough. Then add the March 1st furloughee's of around 100 so a total of 1,987.

For those AE pilots who think you just won the lottery at the expense of the AA pilots on furlough, I hear IF you are brought over before the furloughed then the AA pilots have an extra special training program waiting for you. Better study hard, your REALLY going to need it.

p.s. That's not flame bait either. I spoke to a AA pilot instructor on the jumpseat the other day and he said many of the AA instructors have family or friends that are furloughed and who will be severely affected by this. Long story short, they are not to happy to train "replacements".

1887. I don't think the 80 from Feb. are included. Ballpark for 1/2 the sen. list to retire is 2026.

is that the entire half of the total pilot bodies at AA? That is quite a number of folks then...

The last hiring boom was what? 1987 thru 1991 ? Say the average age was 30 back then, then we are talking 2021 for age 60 and 2026 for age 65.

Can we expect another boom in 2020 ?

Sounds like a lot of rule 32 violations. Guess some of those poor Eagle guys are going to move on up the list. I wouldn't worry about training the Eagle guys. They never had train to proficiency like AA guys.
You do realize that you come across like a spoiled grade schooler. Let me guess you want your marbles back now too.
