Jet veers off runway at DIA
DENVER - Passengers on a flight landing at Denver International Airport had some scary moments Saturday afternoon when their commercial airline veered off the runway. if Passengers say American Airlines Flight 1125 touched down and then veered off the runway shortly after 4:30pm Saturday. There were 109 passengers onboard.

DIA Spokesman Chuck Cannon says there were no injuries reported during the landing, but runway 35-Right will be closed while authorities investigate the mishap.

Passengers had to be removed from the jet and then shuttled back to the concourse.

Cannon says despite the runway closure, travel was not affected, as DIA's five other runways were in service.

well technically the other one was off-roading the super-duper BEFORE landing, but whose keeping track......

It's all a super secret plan by AMR to put UAL out of business by closing down runways at UAL hubs. IAD is the next target.

On a serious note, I'm glad to hear that there were no injuries.

The previous incident involved landing in the overrun and approach lights. Please keep your AA accidents straight. (I know it's tough... :p )TC

How in the H^LL did they do that ??? I think I read about it when it happened, but any details ?

h25b--The overrun accident--VFR day. FO flying. No idea where the CA was or what he was watching...TC

Haven't been to DIA in a while, but, I seem to recall the runways being a bit longer than Midway. Was it a hot day or something? Any hyd problems reported?

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

68 F brrrrrrrr way to hot to land at DIA ! ;)

Perhaps they should start directing the AA planes to runway 34L. It is 16000 X 200. They should have better luck hitting that runway.

All runways at DEN are 12,000' by 150', except for the gargauntuan 16R/34L, which is 16,000' by 200'.

Um, can you find a different term for "hitting" the runway? ;)

AA : Field in sight sir.

Tower : AA XX, wind calm, cleared for the option 34 L or 34 R, goodluck this time sir, you can do it!

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the skid marks from that first AA incident on (or should I say prior to) 35L are still visible.

...I bet that's not the only place the pilot left skid marks.

The first one wasn't VFR. It was low IFR and the transcript I read wasn't good AT ALL as I remember.
