I think the media is just doing what it's suppoed to do, make shxt up so that the hour passes by quicker. If you've watched Spiderman, that's how they do it, right? Make him a hero, and then try to find dirt on him...
You watch, by the time its all said and done these a-holes are going to crucify him. They'll find a violation of sterile cockpit, or a flight attendant joke, or God forbid, a joke about Michelle Obama, and their carreer will be over.
I remember the DL 72 that forgot to set the flaps for takeoff, and one of them had made a comment about how Dan Quayle's wife face reminded him of a horse. And they based the whole investigation around that statement and how it violated sterile cockpit.
Most likely when the media finds out they didn't put the landing lights on, I'm sure they'll come up with ideas like if he turned them on he may have been able to find the runway, or if the gear were down they could have floated to land.
I sure hope I don't have anything like this happen.
Ok, I'll come clean now: I was an average student in grade school. An ok student in middle school. A lousy student in High School. I crashed my dad's cars repeatedly (although I didn't drink--that's a good thing, I think...)
I graduated with a .223 GPA in Journalism in college and passed out on many a soriority lawn. (I had started drinking...)
I nailed every FA I could without regard to their appearance. (More evidence that I started drinking...)
I was in the Chief Pilot's office more than he was.
There, my reputation can only get better.
P.S.--This is a sick society we have created isn't it?
