Answer

This will answer the MEL/ 91.205 debate. You operate using one or the other, they aren't retroactive. I the MEL says you need the beacon, but 91.205 doesn't, you're SOL cause you chose to operate under the MEL (91.213) and it now governs your go/nogo decision.

What MEL/91.205 debate? Of course, an airplane that has a MEL operates under its own set of required equipment rules, but I didn't notice anyone saying anything different.
