Thanks for the feedback guys. I was leaning toward the 400, but I think the Ultra may be more my style. Can't wait to start!

I am typed in both. This one's easy. You will spend 1/2 your time in the 400 loading bags though the cabin to the aft lav. The Ultra has more aft (external) baggage plus nose baggage. Trust me, go with the ultra. I must say however, the Collins AMS-5000 is the cat's meow compared to the Primus 1000 in the Ultra.

Either way, congrats on the new job.

I'd recommend the Ultra also, though I sure hate not having TCAS. As for the amount of flying the Ultra does, it'll be interesting to see how that's affected as the company continues to sell off the fleet. I was in CMH earlier this week and saw another of the Collins-equipped Ultras being prepped for sale.

Last award went to a 12/04 hire so just a hair over 2 years but your results may vary.

I just looked on my standing bid...Ive been here since Nov 02 and the bid says there are 20 guys SENIOR to me bidding Captain in the Ultra. Only 1 senior to me bidding the 400.

Wierd, there are more guy senior to me bidding the Ultra than the Hawker 800 (Honeywell), Sovereign, Encore and the X.

Secrets out...QOL in the uboat is good.

Why does the Air Force use the 400 if it sucks so bad?

Because it doesn't matter what you fly since in the Air Force there are either fighters or targets.

Seriously, the airforce has it's own set of regulations, performance guidlines, etc. I am sure that the pi$$ poor performance of the 400 ain't no thing for America's finest to worry about... only us civies.

The military version of the BE400 is called the T1 Jayhawk. Last I checked, the T1 has a few hundred differences from the civil version. It ain't the same plane NJA operates.

Regarding the misinformed 12,000' runway comment, I've seen T1's do touch-n-goes at JAN's 8,500' runway and GYH's 8,000' runway... with plenty of runway to spare. [/thread jack]
