2 New unlimited j/s airlines on AA... updated

The unlimited guy will go and you will stay behind with empty seats in the back. I was trying to get on in DFW and was informed if the unlimited guy showed, I would be left behind.

I had the same experience in DFW. F'ed up to say the least. I do everything I can to stay away from AA when jumpseating because of their f'ed up non-reciprocal policies.

I hear you, fellow ACAers... and all others who are affected by the ineffeciencies of the system. I've tried emailing and calling our j/s chairman, to no avail... he just does not write or call back, ever.

All I can do for you all is post the latest news and additions, which I try and update periodically.

I also check the standby list of every flight I work, and I make sure I let the agent and captain know if there are jumpseaters. It's amazing how many times they don't.

Sorry for the slow progress, and thanks for all the rides you guys have given me in the past. I promise you they (AA management and the AAPA) are working on including everyone who reciprocates with unlimited j/s.

This isn't quite right. I am furloughed at Hawaiian airlines, and we were issued (by ALPA) jumpseat ID cards which are good on Hawaiian. We are not allowed the actual jumpseat, but can grab an empty cabin seat. I was furloughed over 2 years ago, and was recently issued a new Card which is good for another year.

That is news to me, my apologies. I wish all furloughees from all airlines had that little perk!

Not to beat a dead horse here, but I want to really know their system before I jumpseat on them.

How do they choose who gets the jumpseat when two people show up for it? Is it strictly based on time you show up?

So I got left behind and a half empty rj departed TUL all because a IP was on the jumpseat and giving a line check! I think that grey haired B. of a gate agent enjoyed turning the screws on me! I will always get as many on my aircraft as possible!! Please tell me ASA will be added soon- A DFW commuter! Cheers-

If you talk to the Captain, he should be able to straighten out the agent.
CASS guy should go in the cockpit, non-CASS,unlimited gets a seat in the back.
That's how it's supposed to work, just seems the agents don't get the idea
that their job is to get people ON the plane, not keep them OFF.
Hopefully things will run smoother when they get used to the system.

Maybe if the system was made easier (ie. allowed multiple jumpseaters regardless of carrier, only CASS gets to sit up front) they would be able to figure it out. It's a crappy system.

Gate priority at AA is based on who shows up at the AIRPORT first and checks in for the ride, not who lists first over the phone.

As for who goes when both a limited non-CASS and unlimited non-CASS show up to ride in the back, in my experience, it comes down to the gate agent's interpretation of the rules.

i find it odd but funny that air midwest is unlimited but mesa is not.
