1st and 2nd Year Net Take Home $$$$

Tell ya what. Instead of net, here's gross. My first full year at the airline formerly known as ASA (that included one pay check on second year pay) I made a total of $20194.04 in wages and $1600 in per diem. Knock out about a third for deductions and you'll have a good idea of why it's important to come into this job with low debt and low cost of living.

That year was 2008. I never broke guarantee. Pay has gone up about 3 percent since then with the yearly allowances but it's not enough to bother calculating.

Skywest: net year 1 = 22,000. Year 2= 43,000. Year 3 = 51,000. Year 4 = 61,000

Still an FO on reserve in SLC but am a line holder next month. Flying about 70 hours per month or around 17 days of work. Average about 95 hours of credit. Chop off about $8000 from the above figures for years 2-4 to get my after tax pay.

I am happier than most but pretty easy going and optimistic. I live in domicile and don't mind reserve. After 4 years I have learned to work the system pretty well.

I left corporate aviation flying a Hawker and have not regretted it. Good luck!

Ok at 17 days off that gives you 13 to work. 13 days * 24 hours * $1.7 * 12 months = 6345 at best

61,000 - 6345 = 54,655 / 39 an hour = 1401 credit / 12 = 117 hours average every month

FO pay tops out at year 3?????? Congrats on taking a paycut every year when you factor in cost of living adjustments. Were you guys sold a 3-year upgrade when you signed that?

Commuter for 5 years. Average credit about 110 I guess, have had some bigger months. 12-15 days off. Add more when you put in 401k (6% contribution) and so on. Ive never got how guys live in poverty in this job unless they work for GoJet.

It's a step in a career path you have to decide if you want to make or not. Remember whenever you start you will get first year pay but the sooner you start is more years left at the end of your career and higher seniority. It is hard to always take a pay hit but you have to decide if it is the job you want and then like everything else find a way to make it work if you do. Good Luck.

At 12 year payscale at ASA with per diem, I made $117,000+ last year. That's working my booty off on the CRJ200.

The average regional first year pay is $22 TO $23 hr. Figure you will be on reserve and be held back from breaking guarantee at an average of 75 hrs a month so that comes out to $1725 (at $23 hr) plus a couple hundred or more for per-diem and then after taxes, insurance, etc., you're take home is what? This scenario is more realistic then saying crew support is going to work you or that you will pick stuff up on your days off or you're going to hold a line after a couple of months online.
