I didn't care for corporate flying. Too much sitting around and waiting for the phone to ring. I like the ability to control my schedule and productivity.

But I'm sure that the top of the corporate ladder is pretty nice. I just never saw it.

My professors and flight instructors at Riddle always told us that the majors are the way to go. The pay and job security is more stable at a major airline than at a corporate outfit. Not to say that there isn't any bad corporate outfits out there.

If you take the 601 job, that will give you good experience and make you very qualified to interview at a place like ASA or Comair.
Folks, I think The Guat has returned!

If Jimborealgoodpilot and tabexpressfo came back, it would be like old times!

Corporate vs. 121

If you get the right corporate position you will be paid as much as a senior legacy airline captain, fly better equipment to more interesting places, have greater job security and enjoy a better quality of life. You will also develop personal relationships with people who appreciate what you do for them.

Apparently all the guys I know who have lots of time in the 601, and are currently at the majors weren't qualified for the job.

Is this a joke or a "Riddle"??

The LAST people I would listen to are professors at universities. I am not trying to rip on you Riddle, but in college (while majoring in nursing) I was told by the head of the flight department that "a nursing major will actually hurt you in trying to get a job at an airline". What a bunch of crap! Needless to say, I didn't listen to him and graduated with a degree I can fall back on when my furlough turn comes. Not only that, but I have been supplementing my "airline" income for the last 6 years. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life.

Don,
It sounds like both opportunities are wonderful (as far as seeing the world, doing something different, etc). If you are single, I would go to Europe.

Before deciding on an critical issue, you want to first ask the counsel of many people who may or may not have your best interest at heart? It's John Kerry!!

Ok, seriously do what you really feel has the type of flying that you would be satisfied to be doing in 5 years. Because you just might still be there. If that doesn’t work contact the Wizard of Oz.
