Ok call me a pansee, but I pose this to the audience for feedback.

Just got off a 11 day roadtrip, flew everyday, checked in and out of like 5 hotels, did laundry on the road every 3 or 4 days (I don't bring an army duffel bag on the road full of underwear), etc etc. Burned thru two weekends away from my family.

I rarely do these, the last one was a few years ago (read: younger) and I didn't seem to be physically tired.

Just got home. While I actually got decent sleep while on the road, and was not doing much heavy lifting (not digging ditches), for some reason I am godda** exhausted. My whole body is tired. I have been home for three days and I slept every night AND took a 3 or 4 hour nap every day. My brain actually feels tired. Sex with my wife (nor Eva Longoria, Heather Locklear, Jenna Jameson, etc) is not even in the want-to-do list.

Whats the deal? Any similar reactions? HOW do the 7-on, 7-off (for life) guys do it? Geez. god bless yall

tips, etc?

send them now because I have a 5-day'er coming up. If I eat another Marriott buffett I am gonna vomit.

Learn the basics of good nutrition and exercise, they are your friend :) I do 11 day trips with multiple cities each day working our way around Europe or Asia and it usually takes 2-3 days for me to recover when it's over. So, you aren't a lone ranger.

I used to do a 7/7 schedule and it wasn't a big deal then, but since I took a local corporate job I whine about a 2 day trip:)

It's all about what you are used to, of course age plays a role too....

Hydration, exercise (walking), alcohol in moderation (or none) and GOOD rest are all key to maintaining stamina on a long stint. Staying active and out of the hotel on layovers helps with the exercise component and minimizes the boredom.

Let me ask you this: Did you see this trip coming (i.e, were you able to plan)? Or, was it "The Never Ending Trip"? It does make a difference. When you keep getting extended, it just plain sucks and there's little you can do about it. Also, did you have a few days off immediately prior to the 11 day odyssey?

I used to do a 5-6 week gig in Europe every summer. Our schedule wasn't cast in concrete, but we knew well in advance we were going and had a good idea how long we were going to be sitting in any given city. If you're able to plan for for a long trip, try to arrange your own hotels where you KNOW you'll be able to rest. And while nobody like to pack a steamer trunk, you have to balance the suitcase size with your disdain for doing laundry.

Like others said, it is all what you are used to. I now do 8-on, 7-off; usually a different hotel/city every night. You learn to pack "right" for this gig, as doing laundry is usually an impossibility. I'm able to pack for 8 days in 1 (carry-on legal) pull around, one small duffel and my computer back pack.

I feel for ya.
