So a mechanic is saying we are idiots for writing up discrepancies on an aircraft as we are required to by FAA Regulations as well as our FOM???? Really?!?!?!?

Every time I heard a mechanic complain about my write up I just politely reminded him that it was called HIS JOB SECURITY!

Not sure why this is even a topic. It's your job as PIC to make sure this always happens.

FAR 121.563

Reporting mechanical irregularities.

The pilot in command shall ensure that all mechanical irregularities occurring during flight time are entered in the maintenance log of the airplane at the end of that flight time. Before each flight the pilot in command shall ascertain the status of each irregularity entered in the log at the end of the preceding flight.

But those pesky mechanics will sure make it "inconvenient" for us if we do our jobs?!

Not like I'll miss our Performance Plus bonus...there was hardly anything left after taxes were taken out. Wasn't even worth the gas I spent to drive to the bank to cash the check.
