It is amazing how many people are unaware the US was threatening bankers with legal action if they did not write enough low income/bad credit mortgages to minorities. Go to youtube and check it out. Also, a banker told me he was threatened with JAIL time if his office didn't write more of those toxic mortgages. The government caused this recession with well intentioned policies which had BAD results.

Add up your taxes...ALL of them: income, home/property, gas, sales (city, county, township, state), car registration, levees, assessments, XYZ stadium tax, etc. You'll find you are likely paying MORE taxes than Canadians, Swedes, Germans, Dutch, etc. And "getting" about a 1/3 of the benefit.

When you add it all up, you're easily in the 40-50% range and you STILL have to pay for crap medical coverage, buy paper and supplies for Suzie's elementary school class, pay tolls over a road/bridge, your education beyond HS, your retirement/pension, etc.

So, hell yeah, I'll pay my share; I'd pay more if it DID anything for us.

More than $.60 of every dollar is going to direct military/defense spending (not including programs that can actually steer more monies to it). Yeah...take that $.01 away from education. THAT will fix it.

Really? That's a shocking news flash.

According to OMB (google it), Defense is about $550B out of $3620B in FY2012. I'm no statistician, but that's more like $.15 of every dollar.
