Are Moderators supposed to be contentious or make contentious remarks? How can you do whatever it is you are supposed to do objectively? Is the post above really wise?

Or is it all just about being a hall monitor? Just curious.

Moderators are able to do anything a regular member can... I was a member here for close to a decade before I became a moderator. So long as I (and all) live by the rules of FI.com, we can discuss anything.

Just go on just about any major message board.. the 3 big ones I can think of by member activity are

Talkbass.com
MBword.org
macnn.com

all 3 allow moderators to get right into the fray.. it's the norm on message boards for the most part.

Well there you go. More than a hall monitor.

I just got an email from VA telling me to take their "assessment test". Is there anything I need to know about before I get into this? Aside from the issue of whoring myself out??

You should take that attitude into the interview, you'll do really well.
I'm not sure if you noticed, but the guys who responded to your question on the other thread were dispatchers. They have no idea about the pilot interviews, or online test.
You don't have to "whore" yourself out.
Good luck.

Thanks for your input. I actually had started taking the test but I didn't think I wasn't doing too well so I exited at the first chance to come back to it later. I will finish it this weekend when there is no distraction. Now, getting ahead of myself a bit, was the interview all people question interview or was there any flying questions?

It's has all changed since I did it, but I have heard romours of ATP book questions, 25 of them, but like I said, thats just what I've heard.
Good luck

guess he can kiss that job good bye, heard that the dispatchers were doing the interviews this time around......

I just finished taking the "assessment test". All it said at the end was "Thank you for completing this assessment. Your responses have been received. A member of the Virgin America recruiting team will contact you to discuss the next steps in the hiring process." We'll see what happens, I guess...

I checked my profile at virginamerica.com and saw that my "job cart" didn't have pilot selected. I updated it the 1st of Oct and I know it was selected then, anyone else have that problem?

When I applied at VA two years ago my online application would have random errors everytime I checked it. I emailed the help desk (there is a link somewhere on the app) and I got a call from VA HR a week later. They resolved the problem, and two months later I had an interview, three weeks after that I was in VA ground school. Send them an email. It helped get me a job -- I think.

Good Luck!

Upon completion of the on-line "assesment", does the last page always state thanks and that someone will be in contact? In other words, is there any instant "grading" that takes place to determine if an applicant passes or fails?

TIA,

S

If you get the "someone will be in contact" page you passed. If you failed you would have gotten "thanks but we are going to pursue other applicants" page.

I'm wondering too. I took the online assessment last week, got the 'good' response.. and still no word. I wonder if they are all done interviewing.

I liken Southwest to the ugly girl at the end of the bar after a long night of drinking and getting shot down... she' s only hot cause your expectations are lowered.

I'm going to use this metephor SS. Now days, it's like every job I've applied to the last six months.

Hope all is well.

I did the online test on 10/23 and didn't hear back until about 3 weeks later to schedule an interview.

typically longer than a week. good luck
I got the invite for the interview an hour and half after submitting the assesment. Very lucky and thankful on my part. Did the interview on the 11 and still awaiting word. The whole operation was very impressive and should be another fun filled week waiting for the yeah or nay!

Best of luck to all. Its worth the wait!

Hey all I got the Thank you for completing this assessment. Your responses have been received and will be reviewed by a member of the Virgin America recruiting team. If we do not contact you within 2 weeks, then we have found that your qualifications are not the best match for our job requirements

Is this the good or the bad page???
