or a 2 year upgrade at continental? if you're qualified and pass the checkride...who gives a crap? (don't say the pax, cause as long as they get from pt A-B for the least amount of $, they don't care)

You can't compare upgrade at CHQ to upgrade at CAL. For the vast majority of upgrades at CHQ, it will be the first time that the pilot has been PIC at an airline. At CAL, virtually every pilot has been a Captain at their previous airline for over 1000 PIC already. It's a big difference.
