I'm betting that the freighter version will NEVER be built. Airbus has a serious cash flow problem now and if they are not careful this A380 project could kill the company.
JL can unload and say whatever he really wants to at this point and not have to worry about being 'politically correct'. He is gone (retiring) in Jan '07. I also think JL is just a messenger behind these letters with PC playing puppetmaster now that BC is gone, but thats just my .02!
In short...Better rest provisions for one and the company can't revise your pairing multiple times after block out without bigger penalties AND, this ones big, defined limits to trip extensions periods (which weren't there at all before for int'l trips)...i think it is something like 48 hrs TAFB...
If you didn't get a chance to make it to one of the roadshows this week I strongly encourage everyone to makes it one at a later date.
A lot of good info presented and a lot of good intel behind how the process unfolded. We might not have gotten the Holy Grail but we did get A LOT of...
The retro pay/signing bonus is a joke. I know pay was not a cornerstone issue but come on! What happen to "Make Them Pay For The Delay" motto YGTBSM!
Simple math for my seat shows my signing bonus equates to 1 yr 8 months of backpay instead of the 2 yrs 4 months. THATS AN ADDITIONAL 8 MONTHS...
Since none of the legacies folded Fred never could rack up a big order of 73's at a deep discount. He was just sittin around with cash in hand... waiting...but they all just limped along. Dont'cha ever wonder where the airline industry would be if UA or Airways would of shut down?
Also, on a side note, your Union dues are tax deductable so you get a lot of that money back...quit crying about you RAISE when 90% of the industry have been taking DEEP cuts.
My thoughts exactly.
I know compensation was our '5th priority' but I was kind of hoping for something a little better than a 1% increase in contributions and 9% raise. Two and a half years after the fact that is essentially a 3% raise each year which, IMO, isn't that much of a 'gain' than...
If ratified this fall, the new contract terms would run through the fall of 2010. FedEx spokesman Maury Lane said the contract wouldn't be retroactive to May 2004, when the current agreement became amendable.
Hold the phone...say what? I find this VERY hard to believe, and this is the WSJ...
I forgot something...
There is a longevity bonus calculated somehow that I am unaware of for the length of the contract. If the contract was 3 yrs long it was 'X', if we signed a 4 yr deal it was 'X' and if we signed a 5 yr contract it was 'X'...I don't how 'X' is calculated.
Anyone???
Ballpark it this way...
Our last contract was amendable JUN04, that was 27 months ago...
At the VERY LEAST figure roughly 2000 hrs of back pay. (8 months @ 68 hrs BLG + 4 months @ 86 hrs BLG = 888 hrs annually/12= 74/mon X 27=1998). Each month that goes by without a contract increase the...
My MEC speaks for me and THANK YOU to those that have dedictated their time and effort to making this TA happen. And to all those AVA, DFT, extra flying whores out there you owe everyone more than a beer or two. You know who you are too.
First, read the entire contract and judge it for what it...
Yes it still can happen, from what I understand, but the chances of it happening in todays hiring enviroment have decreased significiantly, FWIW IMHO, since the good ol days.
Just as a reminder, compensation with 5th on your listing of sections that took priority. Scope, work rules, health care and benefits were of more importance to us.
$267/hr sounds nice but their are too many other factors that make up total compensation. Also (and I could be wrong here) I...
Yes, training pay sucks but first year pay (@45k) isn't really that bad compared to A LOT of other places.
It accelerates pretty quickly so suck it for 1 year...you can always put momma back to work:blush:
There wasn't this morning in OAK when I was jumpseating home in full uniform.
TSA told me to check my bags if I wanted to keep any of my stuff; mouthwash, hair gel, deodorent, etc. How is that even an option for flight crew???
