Can you elaborate a little on your buddy's flight - near houses, people, practice, fooling around, who saw him, etc?
best of luck to your buddy... I vote for the lawyer. Too many loose cannons in federal service, in my experience.
I'm just getting in on the tail end of this discussion, but this sure puts thing in perspective for me. if that's the criteria for Mr. Hoover, then it's works for me. Thanks for the post, Jim. Where in Tejas are you? I'm serving time in Houston myself. ;)
Anyone know where I can find a quantitative explanation of maneuvering speed? I mean one like a mathematical explanation. Conceptually, I understand, and can explain it in the general terms of limiting load factor and stall speeds varying with loading, but I need something more detailed. I...
Hey, I'm pro-gun (pro-constitution), but those d@mn dogs bother me. I've got a real concern about them getting ahold of one of my kids at the beach, park or wherever people bring those things. talk about an unpredictable menace!
I agree totally, with the only addition being the FCC & FAA... lots of busy-bodies out there.
If you're going to fire up your cell phone in the air, it might be smart to use it at the right time. Like not flying along on the phone at 300-kts, above 1000-2000' agl or using it too much. Over...
Now you're confusing me, Jboss. I thought you were correcting the man's grammer, then you turn around and insinuate that he may have received an education better than what is offered by public schools.
I heard a radio report (didn't listen that closely, but it sounds like the same incident) that said one man had serious head injuries from the evacuation.
If you're sure they're not going to blow on you (take some sick-sacs anyway), then set up staight & level at 1000-1500 agl or more, trimmed and at a low cruise power setting. have your passenger put something small like a set of car keys in the palm of their open hand. Then raise the nose...
I don't know if I should post this as a question or just a discussion topic, but the other day I was giving some unusual attitude training to a pvt student and had a problem. We'd gone through the discussion a couple of times on recovery sequences, and decided to give it a shot in the air. I...
and with the vicious actions of Sheman and other Federal generals, burning Atlanta, destruction of numerous farms and other personal property, its no wonder resentment (has) lasted so long. It wasn't a civil war, it was a war for Southern independence.
What airpark do you live on, dav8or?
I know you asked about UL's with folding wings for ~$10K, but the Rotax powered planes sure make an annoying racket. You sure you couldn't get a Champ, Luscombe, 120?? How about a Kitfox? Folding wings with a choice of Rotax or 4-cycle - probably too...
The Lone Star Flight Museum is restoring a PB4Y-2 to new condition. If you're ever near Galveston, you should stop by and take a look. All their planes are 10's.
Re: Irregular Heartbeat and FAA Medical

No. But I have very good, accurate info on the effects of stress and caffeine on heart beat irregularity.
sorry, but you've lost me. reask the question or restate your point. You wanting me to discuss the issue more? Guess I'm a little slow...
...diet, sleep and stress. A little lifestyle change and it's no longer a problem whatsoever.
Sounds like your friend has already talked with the dr. Until he gets some of the tests done, he may want to work on the caffeine, stress, etc. It *might* solve his problem.
Good luck with the issue.

You saying this is your sequence since hired? Meaning you made Capt your 3rd year and after 6 yrs you were a 3 yr capt making $80k (in the training dept)? Not that after 4 yrs as a CRJ Capt you made $55. Sorry, just wanting to be sure I understand.
Thanks
I read a lot here about how some pilots strongly believe the ones who fly for low salaries are selling out the rest. Well, I think supporting foreign nationals in the US with questionable immigration status are selling out the country.
I am sorry that you've lost customers, Runt. But where do...
Again, I'm not an FAA authorize MD, but the problems with glaucoma develop over time. If there's no danger of blacking out or loosing vision with no notice, I'd say it's not a grounding issue. But I'm using common sense... this doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the govt's take on...
I sure hate to sound like the FCC or aviation police, but this smells really funny. Moderator, you should consider deleting this ASAP to prevent people from learning (not like it would take much) how to disrupt aviation communication.
Hopefully, the original poster really meant they wanted a...

I can't speak to the flying issues (check with AOPA, ALPA?), but I have several relatives with this and I believe it's very controllable with drugs.
