    Qs. for a Controller

I have pilots mess taxi instructions up all the time. Not worth getting worried about, if you didn't hear "AC# Possible pilot deviation" and "call the tower" don't even worry about it, the controller has probably already forgotten.

Piston going from the east to VNY/BUR

ZLA working LAX arrivals usually bring the majority of them to cross Civet INT at 14000. That is also the point at which the 5 nm turns to 3 in a hurry when SCT takes them from ZLA. They fly you west, so you can fly over the LAX arrivals that are below you. Now as for the routing confusion. More...

    Improvements in the ATC system

Q routes will help, GPS helps, RVSM helps. ADSB will help, more runways will help, more controllers will help. VLJ's will not help! MK

I heard the funniest thing on Guard today (Chicago)

about 2 years ago, it was a nice saturday morning, we get a c210 inbound, clear him to land, he gets a stuck mike and while on final he starts talking to his passenger. "id like to thank god for such a beautiful day to fly blah blah blah" Im working ground and when the c210 is clearing the...

    ATC job

is this good 2152 time, probably not if I have to hit the contract job. Wouldn't do it anyways. Off to ORD in 5 weeks.

    B58 Baron Job

Yeah, that time sounds high. I got hired into a BE58 slot with just around 700TT and about 50 ME to fly it Part91 for a company. Insurance requirments arent that high for a plane in that ballpark.

    Why Low altitude alert

Yes, we get the LA alot on planes over the foothills near our airport. IF a LA alarms on the RADAR we are required to issue it. Usually triggerd by fast decents or close prox to terrain.

Male air traffic controllers don dresses in protest

Yeah, we do becuase so many people see us. I really love it when im in the tower and its 100' out, wearing dress pants, and the AC goes out. Would prefer to be comfortable while I do my job.

Shut down the TMU NOW!!! they are idiots

There is no slow down. TMU does what the Towers and approach controllers tell them to do. IF SFO is fogged in, they can only accept like 25 arrivals an hour unless they are running PRM's. As for the rest of the country.....the NE has been getting ugly WX so has ATL. With choke point routes...

    ATC job interview question.

Yeah, i didn't get interviewed in 03 however we had our hub manager interview somone at our tower yesterday. Apperantly trying to get a feel of who these people are, what they did prior to applying and what they already know about ATC and Aviation as a whole. Tell your bro to relax. This...

    landing separation

well, what we do alot so we dont' get backed up is with a jet on a 3 mile final or so we roll a cessna for an immediate, and then tell them speed and alt permiting off set the centerline at least 10 degrees. Once they turn the distance requirment disappears.
  12. Lrjtcaptain

    landing separation

Did tower call for the go around or did you. That cessna would have had to be at least 6000ft a head of you and off the surface. If the controller was going to let that one slip by then that is a loss of seperation. What airport??
  13. Lrjtcaptain

    landing separation

I hear you, if your in the TRACON i don't know all your rules either. We are allowed to have two landing on the runway, it looks ugly but its legal. What TRACON do you work at ATCLOSER??? MK
  14. Lrjtcaptain

    landing separation

only for a few more months. Im moving on!
  15. Lrjtcaptain

    landing separation

I disagree, i have at least two planes on my runway at a time daily. Use the rules above, if a cessna is 3000ft down the runway and another single crosses the threshold, its legal, if its a twin behind the single, i need 4500. If there is a jet involved he has to be clear. Jets and Small +'s.
  16. Lrjtcaptain

    Violation!

I always handle everything over the phone unless there was a loss of seperation because the pilot didn't do what I said. My phraseology is so bad, hence i clip callsigns, i don't see the point of saying cessna or november every damn time I key up that I don't think my paper work would mean a...

    "VFR Tower"

Really? I should have been fired years ago because I issue IFR clearences and IFR control instructions everyday at work and Im in a VFR tower. VFR towers don't use IFR radar seperation, hence 1 IFR in the airspace at a time unless courses are diverging and we have IFR non radar seperation or...

    New Controller Facility Placement

The FAA's new management policy is a bunch of crap and word on the streets now is they are going to start shutting down the smaller facilities. I got in Sept 03 so I'm still on the B scale making an excellent living but the management crap isn't worth it. With the new pay scale, new hires...

    Radio transmission too long???

"ABC tower, Cessna 123 estimating 10 miles Northeast of the field at four thousand five hundred feet with information alpha. Requesting permission to make a touch and go and then depart to the Northeast for XYZ airport at three thousand five hundred feet. Requesting flight following". From a...
