Right on the money. Thats what really scares me.
On a second note. The claim that pilots pay is determined by supply/demand can also be disbanded by including the term value.
What is the value of an airline pilot?
35 years ago an airline pilot needed to be a very knowledgeable/experienced...
I guess you don't understand that supply/demand has nothing to do with 10 month/200 hour RJ FOs and low starting regional pay.
We all can remember when you needed THOUSANDS of hours with turbine time to get a chance to interview with a turboprop company. There were plenty of pilots willing to...
Are you considering income tax? When I had a 9 to 5 job with a salary of $50K, I walked home with $2,800 a month. These days with second year pay at my regional is $31. After per diem, I walk home with about $2,500.
Apples to apples...one could argue that I make equal to someone with a $45K...
Something like this would be great!

Hi guys-
Wondering if its possible to find ZBW sector maps and some TRACON maps within the center airspace. I fly all the time between PHL and PWM. It would be very helpful to see the best freq for center or approach on a map. Right now..I have to go on memory. I hate guessing the freq...
Interesting. That seems to be just as narrow as smartskies. They say that a airliner cost more to control than a private plane. BS. The blips on the radar screen all require the same services. What the website is referencing are reports that include private aircraft operating VFR uncontrolled...
There are two different taxes. Fuel and passenger. Fuel tax is paid by the owner/operator. Passenger tax is paid by the passenger. The only tax on GA aircraft is fuel tax. However, airlines are required to collect the tax from passengers and then hand it over to Uncle Sam...just like sales...
The commercial is outrages. The smartskies really F'd that one up. Biz jets don't cause delays at large airports. They don't get priority handling by ATC. That "advertisement" really torqued me off.
However...the point of smartskies is that GA aircraft don't pay a fair share. I think the term...
That maybe true, but biz jets still use the same system and are provided the same service as airliners. Last time I was in the New York TRACON, there was just as much attention and resources used on coordinating TEB and HPN traffic as LGA and JFK. The same flow control computers were used...
Oh..come on...the ATC system doesn't only caters to large hubs. Of course, they require more man power. A GA flight from PWK to APA still uses the Chicago and Denver TRACON. The fuel tax is a fine foundation for funding basic ATC services, but as the number of aircraft increase (airline and GA)...
Yeah...it maybe true that there are twice as many GA biz jets as airliners, but 99% of those biz jets don't fly into the congested airline airports.
However, they should probably pay into the ATC system alittle more than they do now.
Have you guys seen the these clips on the CNN airport network? Check out the "advertisements".

......those evil corporate types....
Stranger things have happened. Republic got a great deal on the DCA gates and airplanes. Bedford bought the 170s during the second chap. 11, right? I'm sure US would love to have those back now.
The whole J4J thing is what I find interesting. Kind of a two for one, huh?
Heard from a guy with connections to the Republic POI that USair wants the E170s back. Also, because of the J4J deals, it would be cheaper to just buy Republic and label the pilots airways employees, than to retrain them on different equipment and for Republic to hire replacements.
Possible?.....
Wish I could find something like that. Go for it....You only live once. This "career" in aviation takes too much from our short lives. The value of seeing those we care about more often is worth far more then shinny jet time and stripes.
Is the new job something that will get you challenged...
