I liked the episode (A320 repos maybe) where the challenger F/O showed how he was shaking after a low vis approach and landing, think it was at CYYT. If that gives you the shakes, you may want to look at doing something else.
If that's accurate, it's absolutely criminal. There is NO airplane worth that kind of nonsense, I don't care how big, shiny and advanced it is. Do the high-end 91 operators like Starbucks, John Deere and Qualcomm require a commitment from their guys? Not sure they do.
We're preparing for an eventual audit, not overly concerned about it. Leisure trips are a very small part of what we do and our principal has cut a check for the few non-business trips we've done. I am also hearing about more and more audits with the 91 community, though.
No matter how nice the airplane, foster a positive environment and you won't need to require a contract from your guys. 135 still hasn't figured that out, 91 more so.
Apparently, the FAA nixed the common type scenario due to the FBW.
If I topped off to get double points, I'd be unemployed. The new Avfuel pilot survey asked if I took more fuel for an incentive and I answered no. My bonus is also based on fuel performance and our flight department beat the national average by over $2/gallon. With 3 aircraft flying 1000+ hours...
We evaluated the leg in our 800A with the API winglets and ultimately decided against it. We replaced our SP this year with an 850 and we're still not comfortable with it. Anything over a 60/65 kt headwind was a no go and the only way to do it was with supplemental o2. It's just really not the...
Saw it in CRP today, actually looked pretty good with an attractive white and green color scheme. How'd they pull that off? So out of the ordinary for them.
Wow, tough crowd. They can't all be perfect like us pilots. Often, they're not just listening to you but may be listening to a landline or hearing from the specialist next to them when paired up. Visit a tower or TRACON some time, it's pretty enlightening.
They operate the Falcon 10 and Lear 55 out of Pompano Beach and were recently advertising for Hawker crews. Seem to be busy, hopefully they've got a better thing going than Sky Limo.
We evaluated the 1000 to replace our 800A and eventually went with an 850. Buy in on the 1000 was attractive with HBC refurbishing the NJA airplanes to practically new and reselling them for several million less than a comparable midsize. DOCs were only slightly higher than the 800 but about...
We started using it. You cannot actually use any number following the DCM prefix. We were told we had to select something in the 30xx or 31xx range since that is what the FAA accorded them. When I asked if they were seeking approval for additional numbers they said no. The benefit is that in...
Things are still pretty tight but hit up the contacts from your previous life, network, maybe attend the NBAA convention in Vegas (as if anyone needs a reason to go to Vegas). If the fundamentals are still there, attitude and work ethic, you won't have any problems getting back in.
How long has this been in the works?

The are local news reports looking into last minute insurance policies taken by one of the pilots, I believe the captain. This could take an interesting twist.
As reported by the Chosun newspaper:
"One of the two crew on board the Asiana Airlines Boeing-747 cargo plane that crashed last week...
