Colgan does ultimately pursue their pilots for contract breeches. I spoke with an employment lawyer in Northern Virginia, and he gave the contract a read, and did some research. He told me that the contracts are legally enforceable despite all the reasoning we come up with to try and slip out of...
I spoke with the CEO's of every major Regional last week, and they exclusively ensured me that all airlines will soon be owned by Colgan Air. You see, every week, they call me personally to ask my opinion of how the airline industry should be run, then they tell me all their inside marketing...
You are probably right. That happened awhile ago though and the official company word was that a bird was ingested on t/o out of IAH. Kudos to the crew for bringing it back around safely.
Not that this will really happen, but if it did, I believe CAL would be greatly disappointed with their decision. Express Jet is a very proud company in my view. They take pride in on-time performance, aircraft upkeep, and public perception. Business will always be business and I'm quite sure...
You are right. It's not the pilots, they are good guys. It's an infrastructure problem at Colgan and a culture problem. "Do as much as possible with as little as possible". I see it every day. Currently, there are not enough mechanics to handle the continuous maintenance issues, there are not...
AND, next month we will be investing in spell check software so that we can post our weekly meeting minutes without a host of grammatical and spelling errors. THAT IS, if we post the minutes at all.
Cushy position??? I wouldn't exactly call Colgan a cushy position. Let us see, what have I dealt with with Colgan over the last few millenium... broken seats, broken seat belts, cracked window. cabin door that won't latch, carpet that slides all around the floor of the cabin, smoking circuit...
Jerkin' gear is such a stupid comment anyway. You can be as involved or uninvolved as you want to be as an FO. Know your systems, procedures, and regs, and you are on a par with anyone else in the industry, regardless of seat position.
As someone who has given consideration to coming to Express Jet, what should I expect in terms of the following:
How long are new hires sitting reserve? CLE? EWR? HOU?
Realistically, how long should we be prepared to wait for an upgrade? 4 years? 6 years? Is it turning into Eagle upgrade...
Colgan will let you work for 16 hours straight if you are really good to them. You can even swing a 16 hour duty day with 1 hour of scheduled block time, but you have to know somebody and have seniority to pull that off. If that's not a bonus, then I don't know what is.
