Damn....it's only taken FIVE years to get the pilot group angry. I was ready to do all of this the day after the contract became amendable, and felt I was one of only a handful of pilots willing to fight.
Good luck to ASA pilots.
Yes, I fully understand that Delta runs ASA. I should have been more exacting and asked, why doesn't Delta "run" ASA effectively?
It's strange. Again, ASA has so much untapped potential, but no one seems even remotely interested in improving the airline for real. Silly and bizarre policies...
Wholy cow.....what nimrod thinks Delta is going to buy back ASA????
This new boarding policy will be like many other policies at ASA.....not based in any reality, and will simply be ignored. Remember the APU mandate, not to fire it up until 20 mins prior departure?? We all ignored that, I...
Is there something outside of the ALPA magazine that outlines this program???? Please someone tell me this is a nightmare.
I'm out of the industry, but this scares the living $hit out of me. I can't imagine putting my family on an airliner flown by this level of pilot.
Someone please...
The really bizarre thing is that managment obviously thought pilot would show up. This is really indicitive of a few things:
a) Managment has absolutely no sense of how much they are scorned and mistrusted by the pilot group.
and/or
b) management simply does not care, and perhaps enjoys...
People not still working for AWAC stand little to no chance of getting retro pay. Sorry, this is typical of negotiations. I worked for ASA for several years, and I KNOW I won't see a dime when the new contract is ratified.
Sucks, but that's reality. Don't count on your fellow pilots to...
Question: It's been a couple of years since I've flown anything with ASA written on the side. Can you fuel a boarded aircraft that does not have power to it?
This is like the Captains who say "the gate owns the airplane until the door is closed"......wrong. You bet your a$$ they'll say you "own" the airplane if a passenger has a heat stroke.
Presumably this policy is meant to save time. As one other poster said, the better idea is to keep planes...
Yes, but Delta has adequate GSE to heat/cool and power the aircraft. ASA FA'a won't have the stones to refuse to board even with 100+ OAT, and we all know ASA doesn't have adequate GSE. What you'll end up with is super hot planes with no power, being boarded by super-junior FA's.
Another ASA...
You want to have a real laugh, compare the rest and duty time requirements for a commercial driver vs. a commercial pilot.....absolutely no comparison.
Truck drivers HAVE to keep a current log of their duty and rest, it is a JAILABLE offense to not have enough rest. Trucking companies don't...
......and get very little sleep, only to be interupted by crew scheduling with a short call..."Um, I was up cleaning airplanes all night" you say. They say "that wasn't duty time ARE YOU REFUSING THIS TRIP!!!" You say, "I came in on my own time, man? Come on, I'm tired." They say "well, that...
Actually the airline loves to run at this level. This is the sweet spot where you have maximum productivity of your crews (and maximum stress, but who cares right?) and you burn people out so fast they leave in a few years.
ASA has always run way understaffed. Why? It's cheaper to run your...
