Southwest Ranks Number One in Customer Service for 2005!

Hey buthuntr, I'm exactly where I want to be but thanks so much for your concern.;) I hear we'll be hiring this summer so I'll see what I can for you okeedokee? I just don't know if your stats will cut it at a real airline.

Southwest Ranks Number One in Customer Service for 2005!

Exactly what is there to complain about when the passengers who ride southwest don't have any expectations in the first place? I'm sure if you look at Greyhounds complaint ratio it's low as well.

    When will Airways recall?

Rumor is that there will be SOME hiring around 2nd quarter '06. In the transition agreement between the company and pilots it states that any vacancies occuring on the west side will be filled by AAA furloughees first. They get pay based on longevity but go to the bottom of the list for...

    Logbooks

I think people get way too hung up on their logbook(s) for interviews. The reality is, in all the interviews I've ever done, the longest anyone has gone over my books is about a minute. In a couple of interviews they didn't even bother. In my opinion, they could care less whether your times...

    New UAL stock, who's buyin'

I may actually end up putting some money on the table here. I'm kicking myself for not doing it after the merger with AWA and AAA. That stock opened at somewhere around $19 and went all the way up to $40. Investors seem to love these big company's coming out of bankruptcy so it may be a good...

    Detroit area AME

Whoops! Sorry about that. Dr. Stryk was my allergist when I was living there. The doc you want to look up is Dr. Alper. Great guy and he'll usually be able to get you in same day. At least that was my experience.

    Detroit area AME

Look up Dr. Stryk in Metro Detroit. You can get a first class medical for $45 and if you go during daylight hours it's only a moderately dangerous area of the city.:D

The Skinny on the Age 60 Rule

No, you don't have too much experience but you're cognative ability to draw upon that experience starts to diminish. I don't hear the air traffic controllers whining about being forced out early but I guess some pilots feel entitled to make up the rules as they see fit for their own personal...

    Lost Logbook and FedEx

I would think that your licences would obviously validate the kind of time you're missing. They're going to be more interested in whatever military/135/121 time you have anyway instead of time spent in training.

    Reporting speed reductions to ATC

Thanks all for the responses. Maintaining 250 to the marker in an airbus just isn't an option unless you want to end up on CNN. He was probably just having a bad night.

    Reporting speed reductions to ATC

Just wanted to get some opinions on something that happened on a flight I was operating into JFK the other night. We were descending through about 8,000 feet being radar vectored for a VOR approach doing 250 knots. We had not received any speed assignment from approach and when he turned us...

The Skinny on the Age 60 Rule

I don't know what ya'll are getting so upset about. Let's say this dog does pass in congress. The way the FAA moves, by the time they figure out what kind of medical qualifications they want someone to have to fly past 60, we'll all be sipping Jim Beam in our rocking chairs anyway.

    America West jumpseating?

I don't know what you guys are talking about. According to the company, as of Jan 4, AWA no longer exists. :(

    UAL November Losses

NWA was only free if you happened to live in a handful of exempt states. Otherwise it was something like $50 - $75. In any case, AA had the highest application fee by far.

    SWA and LAS

Does SWA really take that into consideration? Since we opened LAS as a base (AWA), I haven't heard of anyone having trouble getting to work. With all the frequency I would think it to be fairly painless, especially if you're with a company that has CASS.

Please, someone tell me this is BS!

Back when I interviewed at Comair in '98 I was really ignorant about proper interview attire. All I had on was a pair of khaki's with a pair of loafers and a white dress shirt with some cheap wal-mart tie and no sport coat (seriously). When I got to the interview I almost broke out into a cold...

Updated AA D6U (Unlimited) J/S list

Thanks for the info AA73. And you're right, Cactus does NOT speak for most of us over here. People who resort to name-calling like that generally don't have the intellect to see that the pilot group can't be blamed for management's policy's.

Updated AA D6U (Unlimited) J/S list

Since those of us that still have an AWA badge technically work for US Airways now, will we be allowed unlimited jumpseats?
